Editorial Reviews

CD Description
One of America's biggest emo bands follow up the success of2001's eponymously-titled album (aka 'Bleed American'). A darker, more mature and more diverse set than that album, 'Futures' nevertheless features the Jimmy trademarks of roaringguitars, angst-ridden lyrics, singalong pop melodies and stadium rock attitude. Produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters), it includes the single 'Pain'.

My Favourite Jimmy Eat World Album!5
A lot of JEW fans stand firm that Bleed American is the best JEW album but I disgree and would choose Futures as my favourite album from the band. The reason for this is simple - from the opening and title track, Futures, I cannot stop singing when I listen to this album. The music and lyrics are just so fabulous it draws me into a world of music where whatever I am doing at the same time (washing up, cleaning etc) becomes easier. It is quite simply an album to turn up loud and get lost inside.

The album contains a perfect mix of loud rock tracks and slower ballad style songs. My favourite tracks of the "louder" variety are Work, Pain and Kill all of which are fabulous rock songs. On the slower side it is songs such as the Shame and Polaris which I adore. The stand out track on this album though is undisputed as far as I am concerned and that is 23. Seven minutes which pass by all too quickly from the beautiful introduction to the stunning vocals and heart breaking lyrics. This song is one of my all time favourite songs and it alone is my reason why Futures is the best JEW album.

I would buy this album for 23 alone but the rest of the album is fabulous aswell - a real emotional ride along which everyone should relish.

Their long awaited masterpiece.5
Jimmy Eat World was, until this album, one of those bands that had bags of talent and potential, but never seemed to incorporate it into their CDs. Well, i'm pleased to say that's all changed, thanks to their latest album 'Futures'.

The album's opening track, from which the album takes its name, is an imbittered sign of the band's mmaturity since their debut album, but this. and their next song 'Just Tonight...' are merely shadows of the brilliance still to come on the CD, with tracks such as 'Work', 'The World You Love' and '23'. Not to say that the other tracks are bad, because they're not. In fact, I can safely say that this is one of those special albums, that manages to mantain its charm through its entirety.

If you don't get this, you're really missing out.

masterpiece5
Despite various people slagging JEW off for being emo, they had produced one of the best albums in their career. My favourite song on the album would definetly have to be 'Work'. This song's lyrics are so deep and portray what really goes on in the minds of seniors, or people going through that stage. Jim Adkins vocals are beautiful and suit this song perfectly. A must buy for and JEW fan.
