No other brand as good
Having had 2 Kenwood chefs which ultimately broke, I finally decided not to waste any more money but find the extra to pay for a Magimix. My parents have had one for over 20 years and it is still going strong despite my Mother's best efforts. I have had my 3200 since September 2007 and have yet to fault it. Quiet, very steady and solid, attractive and extremely effective it cannot be beaten. I read lots of reviews before I finally did buy and it was clear that no other processors are as good. The 3200 meets all my needs as a family of four who entertain quite a lot. I have not seen how much bigger the 4200 or 5200 but this one is ample for most families I imagine.
Best Food Processor have bought
The thing that stikes you is how quiet it is, incredibly fast smooth and easy to use, has produced superb results. Also easy to clean. Only concern is how dishwasher safe are the bowls the instuctions say less than 40 degress most dishwashers wash at 65 degrees.
Better than ever
I have had three brands of food processors and Magimix are so much more effecient and powerful than the others, I wouldn't look at anything else. Plus you can always get spares online.
I finally decided to upgrade my 26 year old Magimix (three new bowls but no mechanical failures!); I have to say this is on the whole worthwhile.
Improvements :
The pulse /on/off is easier to use and to keep clean.
The three bowl sizes make chopping the right quantity easier
The smallest bowl is superb for sauces, especially sauce tartare.
The dough blade is probably better for dough than the steel, and I can make a 500gram mix in the biggest bowl.
The optional Julienne and french-fry disks are excellent, make very attractive crudites as well as soup or casserole ingredients ( optional extras)
Downsides
The fine grater/ slicer (they are combined as a reversible disk)is not as fine slicing as the previous model, though the grating is okay
The egg whisk takes ages - much easier by hand or with an old-fashioned electric whisk
The lid has a very awkward small space between the funnel and the edge which is only accessible with a tooth-brush and gets dirty every time.
