Manufacturer's Description
| Welcome to a new world of Light and Colour from Philips. Philips LivingColors is an innovative LED light with an intuitive remote control that enables you to create your own ambience through the use of colour and light. Available in two styles; Versatile Clear or Sophisticated Black. |
| What Colour Is...... Bright sunshine yellow to warm your soul, or romance in shades of red. Perhaps a pale leaf green to ease you into the evening. LivingColors has the perfect hue to suit your mood and create the ambience you desire. 16 Million Colours! The LivingColors lamp contains 4 light emitting diodes (LEDs). Two red, one blue and one green. Together they can be increased, reduced, brightened or dimmed to produce a total of 16 million different colour combinations. Touch the colour wheel on your remote and LivingColors lights up your world in any shade you choose. From soothing pastel shades to rich, intense colours. | ![]() |
![]() | Unique Design The LivingColors lamp has a highly distinctive appearance. It's beautifully tough transparent surround is flat on the bottom to ensure stability when the lamp is placed on a flat surface. It won't be easy to decide the best place for this lamp...whether it's a kid's bedroom or a spacious lounge, a cosy bedroom or a posh drawing room, you will love to place it every where… it will stimulate the environment and everybody will simply love it. | |
Size The lamp is around 20 cm high | Batteries 3AAA batteries are required. These are included with the lamp. |
| Cable and Adaptor The translucent power cable is 2.5 metres long. It is designed to be connected to the LivingColors power adaptor, which reduces the voltage to just 5V |
![]() | Demo Mode If you disconnect and then reconnect the power supply, the lamp quickly runs through its whole colour repertoire. Furthermore when the lamp is on, if you hold down the on button for around 10 seconds whilst pointing it at LivingColors the lamp will automatically go into the colour loop mode. Optimum Distance to Wall Place the LivingColors lamp 0.5 to 1 metre away from your wall for the best effect. |
| Guarantee and Service The LivingColors lamp and remote control are guaranteed for 1 year. Unfortunately the LED's are not replaceable, however the life span of the LED bulbs are 8-10 years based on 1.5-3 hours usage per day. |
| No Heat As the lamp does not emit any heat, you can keep it on for as many hours as you like. Cleaning Cleaning this lamp will never be a problem because of its smooth surface. The lamp may be cleaned with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Cleaning agents should not be used. | ![]() |
![]() | Remote control The intuitive remote control allows you to switch the LivingColors lamp on and off, dim or change the colour effect from anywhere in the room. Radio Controlled The remote control works on radio frequency (not an infrared beam). This means you don't need to point it directly at the lamp to change the colour effect |
Colour Spectrum By turning the colour loop on, you can display an almost infinite variety of colours. Colour Saturation The "colour saturation" button enables you to adjust the amount of white mix allowing you to create the colour tone you desire. Light Intensity You can increase or reduce the light intensity by using the dimmer button. | ![]() |
![]() | Connection Option You can connect up to 6 LivingColors lamps to the same remote control. Just place the remote control close to the Philips brand name on the front of each lamp, and hold down the "on" button until the lamp flashes 3 times. The lamp will then operate off this control and be in sequence with the other Livingcolor lamps. Memory The remote control "remembers" the last setting you chose, and displays this the next time you switch the lamp on. |

How trashy does the description of this thing sound?
I heard about this lamp and dismissed it as a trashy cheap sounding toy, but I was in Dublin recently and saw one in operation in a philips shop. It was actually kind of nice and because you can turn down the intensity of the colours a lot, it really manages to create a lot of different moods.
When I got it back home it was even better, in the evenings, in our white painted apartment, it could totally transform the look of the place. Light blues, deep greens, or hellish deep red, whatever the colour or intensity you want with the remote it only takes seconds to get it.
The lamp is nice and heavy, although a little top heavy, and the guy in the shop told me there was a stand for it but there was nothing in the box. The design is very Apple, and the remote is gorgeous even on it's own, with the glossy white finish and round spectrum to play with. It's also not infra-red, so you don't need line of sight with it.
I thought the price was pretty high, but now I'm starting to convince myself that one or two more wouldn't be such a bad purchase. Very recommended!
Superb moodlighting!!!
I bought Philips LivingColors as a Valentine gift for my girlfriend just yesterday for her bedroom which is not very big. She is absolutely thrilled by it.
This is an amazing product, & it really changes the ambience of the entire room!! You can play around with the remote (which is radio controlled, so you don't have to point it towards the lamp!) to get the precise colour you want, with its 16 million options.
The product itself is a beauty and can adorn any setting. Philips has a winner here.
Every now & then, my girlfriend changes the colour to reflect her mood, & I have to guess if she's angry, or sad, or naughty, or happy. The lamp doesn't get hot at all, even if you leave it on for hours.
I have not found any negatives yet. It's a bit expensive, but worth it.
What you see is what you get.
Philips has a way of throwing out slightly whacky products like this, but sometimes it does it well --as in this case. The lamp is exactly as it appears in the promotional literature, and nicely finished in construction. The iPod-esque radio remote is a nice piece of product design also and takes three AAA batteries, thoughtfully enclosed.
In order to be able to use multiple lamps in the same area, each can be assigned its own remote (for individual operation), or you can assign one remote to all of them to operate them simultaneously. This means that when you plug in the lamp for the first time, you need to hold the remote about 10 inches away from the light-emitting front and touch the ON button for about 5 seconds. The light then flashes to let you know that it is tuned to the remote.
From then on, operation is intuitively simple. The radio remote does work in the same band as Wifi networks, so if you find the range a bit limited or the response "jerky" (as has been mentioned), you may have to switch Wifi to channels 8 or 11 to avoid interference. In my case, I experienced no problems.
I'll definitely consider buying a few more for different parts of the house.
