Hanson scales review
These scales are great. I got fed up replacing batteries in my digital ones and bought this mechanical set instead. The measurements are nice and clear, it is easy to adjust and the measuring bowl is a good size. The spout is handy when you are measuring liquids too. The bowl fits over the weighing part neatly for storage although as I use mine everyday when making bread I just leave it on the worktop.

The jug is a major advantage
Kitchen scales come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, with or without bowls, different types of readout and maybe even designer labels. In the rush to think what it will look like, there is a tendency to neglect practicalities.

In truth, the scales perform no better or worse than many. They are quite easy to set up, having both ounces and grams, and the guide is quite clear when adding ingredients. They won't respond immediately when you add very small quantities, but this is no different to many scales. But what makes these different is the bowl which has an integral spout and handle. Many scales come with simple round bowls which make it difficult to pour things like flour or mixed fruit to something with a narrower opening, like a jug; inevitably some spills over. The spout helps prevent this; you have to be very careless to get any spills.

The scales also have a small footprint, and are quite easy to store away, the jug sitting upsidedown over the base. The jug is sturdy enough, but worth looking after with care. All in all, a very good purchase.
