Manufacturer's Description
Isn't it annoying when you're trying to iron and the electrical cord keeps getting in the way? The Tefal Aquaspeed range has been launched to make your life easier, with the exclusive Ultracord system helping to reduce the possibility of catching the fabric with the cord when ironing. The Ultracord system raises the cord enough so that instead of the cord resting against the clothes, causing interference and rucking, it will loop over the clothes and hang over the edge of the ironing board. Simple, yet effective. The Ultracord is also spring assisted making it fully automatic, and has a lock/unlock function that makes it easy to store as the cord can be wrapped around the heel.
Not only that, but the Aquaspeed Ultracord is fast and easy to fill with the extra wide opening hatch and built in funnel meaning filling only takes 5 seconds. The large non slip heel makes it exceptionally stable, while the anti drip system means no annoying drops of water.
The Aquaspeed Ultracord uses an ultraglide ceramic soleplate, has 2400 watts of power, 0-40g/min variable steam and a 120g/min shot of steam and has a large 300ml water tank.
Tefal
Tefal owes its origins to a Frenchman, Marc Grégoire, and his wife, Colette. M. Grégoire, a keen fisherman, wanted to make his rod reel in more smoothly and, in the 1950's, experimented to see if a non stick coating might provide the answer. It did! But it was his wife who made the real breakthrough by gently suggesting that coating the cooking pans would have a more worthwhile application by making them easier to cook with and simpler to clean. Now, Tefal is the number one name in non-stick products and small appliances, operating in over 120 countries. Tefal remains committed to making household tasks easier and cooking results better, through a constant flow of new ideas and technology.

Does it all
This iron has the features I wanted and some I didn't know I wanted. My last iron was heavy and I liked it, not having to press down. The bottom of this one is coated to make it glide easily which was not true with earlier irons. The turbo steam is really fierce which I think is a good thing. The ultracord seemed like a gimmick, but isn't - the cord doesn't bang my wrist and if I didn't like it, I wouldn't have to use it. The iron heats quickly, the cord is extra long, it's easy to fill and the base is very steady. I can't fault it.
Excellent
I can't agree with the other reviewer. My feelings are consistent with those expressed by Which? magazine when they rated it a Best Buy. To quote: "results are excellent...ready to iron denim in 45 seconds...heavy but the weight is reassuring and you won't need to press down...glides well...easy to fill". I'd certainly recommend trying it for comfort before buying because, apart from the weight, it has quite a wide handle, albeit cushioned and comfortable. If you're ok with the weight (it's only .3 kg heavier than their lightest Best Buy) and the handle, you'll be delighted when you actually use it.
It's a pleasure to do the ironing!
I have been used to using a cordless iron and spent a lot of time trying to find a decent replacement without success. Nobody seems to sell these anymore!? Previous experiences of irons with cords was that it was difficult to prevent the cord dragging across the clothing and making further creases. Having read the reviews this iron sounded ideal - and it is. It's really easy to use - the most important feature is the cord stands up away from the iron by approx 3 inches which means that it doesn't drag across what you have ironed. The cord is nice and long also. If I had to find anything wrong with it it would be the width of the handle - for those of us that have small hands it is just a little too wide which can cause some discomfort around the thumb area if you are ironing for too long. I hate ironing but I have to say this iron has made it a pleasure rather than a chore.
