    Not recommended, unfortunately3
The hard drive is well made, and looks very good - the finish is superb.

But, I bought it as I have 3 PC's and wanted to use as my central documents place - It is fast, and easy to use, but I couldn't like it enough to ignore the following:

    - Power cable easily disconnects with the slightest movement of the power cable. I've had two and both had the same problem - the actual connector behing the drive slides out slightly and stops the drive working until you push it back in.

    - Doesn't power off after inactivity or when not connected to USB. seems like an obvious feature it should have, but you have to remember to turn it off when you turn off your PC/Laptop.

Other than that it is a good drive, but I'm sure there are better drives out there. Don't be sold on the looks.

I hope this review is helpful.

    This is not Firewire1
One thing to be careful with: although the features say this is a firewire drive and the contents mention a firewire cable, this is definitely a USB hard drive. It says USB in the title, and the features and description are misleading when they mention firewire. There is a separate firewire version of this hard drive.

A very good option for a large external back-up HD4
First things first, despite the product description this has a USB2 connection not firewire. Second, lets drop all the sales jargon in the product description, and simply say that this is a good, big hard disk for making backups. I have had it a couple of years and it does its job, but I've treated it quite kindly by just leaving it on my home office table. It looks well made, but I don't leave it running all the time, and I don't cart it around the world. Initially I used it for my PC's and now I use it for my Mac's, works the same. In some ways it should get a 5-star rating if I'm happy with it, and if it stops working I'll throw it away and give it a 0-star rating. But honestly I will actually only give it a 4-star because a couple of friends have had their drives crash, so I am considering getting a second unit to be on the safe side. So a little doubt has crept in about reliability, and if you need to have two of these things then you can't really consider them cheap - but that's the price we have to pay these days to be sure to keep 10's of GB's of music, photos, films, etc.
