Great shoe but not for serious walkers
Smart and very comfortable shoe, but if you are a serious walker, the heel and sole aren't up to the job. My heels have worn right down after 7-8 months of average wear - have been quoted £60 to repair as the whole base has to be replaced - also very slippery on ice and some wet surfaces. My first pair had to go back as they leaked badly. Rockports response was "we do not have a guarantee on our footwear within the UK".
Very comfortable!
I have to admit that I never bought these shoes as a serious walking shoe. Delighted with the wear after two years and they have been worn a lot - the heals have now worn down and the sole shows heavy signs of wear but no worse than I would have expected. Stood up well from the waterproof aspect in ice and snow - not tested in desperate conditions. Overall I have been very pleased with this shoe but I wont pay £85 for a replacement pair - they are a little overpriced especially as the repair costs are very high. Well worth £50 to £60 if you can find them marked down. THEY ARE AN INCREDIBLY COMFORTABLE SHOE!
Very comfortable walking shoe, but poor wear
This shoe has become my stock favourite.
I walk on average an hour a day to and from work, in all weathers, so need a shoe that is immediately comfortable, has a wide toe area (to allow my toes space to breath), is waterproof (to a degree), is smart enough for work, and is light. This shoe is fit for the purpose.
The only down-side is that the soles and heal wear down fairly quickly, so I have to replace them every three or four months. When the sole wears down, you can forget walking in rainy conditions as you'll be slipping like you've never learnt to walk.
I've not found any other shoe that meets my requirements like these, so will have to continue replacing them as needed. But at £42.50 today on Amazon, I have just had to buy 3 pairs.
An almost perfect shoe, just a shame about the wear.
