Customer Reviews
Wet; a review for the full game
I have followed this game since the first teaser trailer was released almost a year ago and I have keep up to date with it untill the demo, at which point I pre-ordered it. it remained all this time simply one of the most awesome and coolest looking games, and the most stylish.
If faults can be found it would only be the graphics, this is no Gears of War. Don't get me wrong they are fine but not fantastic and the same could be said for the sound effects. they are acceptable but its clear they were not the main concern
But the gameplay is; anyone who has played Stranglehold and Max Payne would feel at home with the over the top gunplay and acobatic agility, almost every action combined with firing weapons slows time and enables true split targeting while moves that activate slow-mo can be chained gaining points that can be spent upgrading, in addition there is Area and Rage modes thoughout the game. In Area you must close spawn points while getting bombarded by enemies while in Rage mode, which is by far the most stylish and cool looking part of the game, all colours are replaced by reds, blacks and whites and Rubi (the girl on the cover) does massive damage and generaly kills anything in her way untill she gets a little less angry, both modes are occasionaly combined. The controls are very simple and after a small peroid of time any player will be able to take full advantage of the game and Rubi's abilitys.
The music deserves a little mention, its a fantastic collection of 70's inspired music that you can play back-to-back via the jukebox in the extras section
Wet is a fast, brutal and certainly recommended, the action is top knotch and has the best sountrack i've heard in a long while. The main character and the few supporting ones are easy to like and get on with while the rail sequences are quite simply better than most games manage (apart from Rez HD which IS a rail shooter and is in my option unbeatable) and I'm not talking about the car sequence in the Demo. Wet is fantastic and was well worth my time, and will be worth yours.
Thank you for reading
Here we go...
I'm sick and tired of people slagging this game down because of the graphics, lastability and comparing the main character to lara croft. The main character is female, get over it.
Normally after completing a game, I would trade it in, with 'Wet' I haven't, why? Because it is THAT much fun. Wall running, shooting, sword slashing, and even the car chasing sequences are brilliant. The 70's psychobilly style music is brilliant as well and suits the theme of the game, and also spoofs tarantino perfectly. This game obviously doesn't take itself seriously and that's the brilliance of it. Eliza Dushku voices 'Rubi' perfectly and the dialogue has some really funny one liners I almost wish this were a movie.
If you're looking to play games just to have fun and be entertained buy this now!
If you're one of those hardcore gaming geeks, you will be highly disappointed, stick to playing Halo 3 online.
Mmmm It's alright
Good: Stylish, original, fun bullet-time, Quentin Tarantino-esque character design and cut scenes
Bad: Poor controls, 1st level is shocking, short (2-3) hrs, bad voice acting (for some characters)
Ugly: The graphics (but who cares about graphics? only nerds care about graphics, are you a nerd?)
