Dry feet are comfortable feet
Karrimor use waterproof, breathable membranes in its footwear to keep water from entering whilst allowing water vapour (sweat) to escape. Even while sitting still over eight hours, your feet will sweat the equivalent to a one-quarter cup of water. During even gentle exercise, this can be greatly increased. Wet feet blister, and feel cold and uncomfortable. The membranes Karrimor uses, allows water vapour to escape, leaving feet dry and comfortable.

Karrimor uses eVent. The premium market performance-leader durably waterproof/ultra breathable membrane. eVent is waterproof and over twice as breathable as its nearest competitor. eVent membranes let the sweat out.

Fit and last shape
The Karrimor last is generally recognised as a higher-volume last; which means the fit feels wider –- more akin to the British and European foot shape. Karrimor sells boots and shoes in full and half sizes to ensure a goods fit. Karrimor recommends wearing the boots around the house to ensure they fit well before wearing them outside.

Outsole
Karrimor use durable outsoles that provide high levels of grip. Karrimor uses Vibram outsoles on all its models, which are widely recognised as the market leader in outdoor footwear outsoles. Vibram outsoles can be replaced when they do finally wear out. Many of the Vibram outsoles used are exclusive designs Karrimor has developed with Vibram -– exclusive to Karrimor designs and last.

Good, cheap hiking trainer
This is an inexpensive, reasonably light (555 gms for a single size 9) waterproof (eVent lining) shoe with a solid Vibram sole and a moderately aggressive tread (far more grippier than a normal trainer). The chassis has some twist to it, the heel has a high protective band, the rand / toe are well covered and the innersole can be removed. All in all, I rate this an excellent choice for those interested in lightweight hiking but are on a budget.

Karrimor Meridian
A substantial, lighweight and effective walking shoe which should provide many months, or even years, of comfortable service in all outdoor situations. The fitting across the toes maybe a little tight for some wearers and perhaps a half size larger would be appropriate for wearers more accustomed to a "G" fitting.

Keep on walking
Excellent these were bought for walking on mixed terrain. Had a previous pair from the Karrimor range and was equally delighted with them. No hot spots nor sweating good grip with the "vibram" soles installs confidence in ones walking.
