Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Born, the debut album by four conservatoire-trained young women has little to do with classical music. It's a gimmick, fusing a string quartet of frivolous femmes, spicy girls who all want to be "Posh", with dance beats, a big production mixing their violins, viola and cello with polished electronics. Add an enormous marketing budget and watch them top the charts. Taking themselves less than seriously--they played the James Bond theme at their Royal Albert Hall debut gig--pop "Victory" looks assured. This single bounces along with a dash of Rossini's Barber of Seville and a real sense of pop melodrama, in spirit little different from what guitarist John Williams did with his rather less photogenic band Sky in the late 1970s. What may surprise is that tracks such as the frenetic world-dance "Quixote" are penned by the film composer Magnus Fiennes, brother of the more famous Ralph and Joseph. "Winter" adds Jean Michel Jarre-style synth and voice-over to the ghost of Vivaldi and the infectious beat goes on, and on, and on. Sex sells, and Bond's success seems assured: this is a state-of-the-art product, but with Mike Batt of Wombles fame's bonus remix of "Victory" just don't expect it to be art. --Gary S Dalkin

Brilliant5
After having heard 'Victory' on a classics compilation (seeing as it IS classical, only with enw ilfe breathed in!), I knew Bond were going to be something good, and the samples I have heard are fantastic!! Born is something that classical music needs; a invigoration, taking inspiration and energy from so many differen worlds of music, to create something that is new, alive and very refreshing.

Buy this CD, and you will NEVER regret it!!!

This is the most exiting album i have heard in a long time5
I have to admit to buying this cd after seeing these stunning girls on tv playing victory.I was completly blown away by their performance, they were so sexy and they looked so much to be enjoying playing their music. The production on the album is stunning and I can't say there is a single bad track, which in its self is an achievement. It is a great album to put on when you are feeling a bit down, if this dosent lift your spirits, nothing will. If you are a lover of good, exiting music I suggest you put this on your christmas list.

Wonderful!5
This is an amazing CD - hardly 'pop' as previously described, closer to the dance music so popular these days. The tracks range from folk through true classical to music that would not sound out of place in a film score. I adore 'Oceanic' and find it one of the most relexing pieces I have ever listened to. Keep an open mind - don't knock it as classical trash, but don't try and label it as pop either. This is far far more than that. Absolutely brilliant!
