Average customer review:Product Description
This extender has been re-designed optically and offers excellent performance with compatible EF lenses (same as the Extender EF 1.4x II). Features a new seven-element design and same weather-resistant design and anti-reflection internal construction as the new EF 1.4x II. The EF 2x II doubles the focal length of any lens its mounted to and reduces its effective aperture by two stops. With the EF 2x II AF is possible with any EOS body if the lens has an f/2.8 or faster maximum aperture and compatible Image Stabilization lenses maintain the IS feature when used with any current EOS camera.

Slooooooooooows your fast glass!!!
What you want to know without reading too much. It will generally only work with the Canon Grey lenses that are f2.8. You will lose two stops when putting this on which detracts from buying a fast lens (i.e. low "f" number), for instance your f2.8 lens will automatically become an f5.6 lens when using this 2x Extender.
I will use the 1.4 mark II alot as it will only lose 1 stop. If you are intending on shooting slow or still things in ow light then ok you'll be fine as you will if you wanted to shoot bright sunny fast action such as motorsport.
A good purchase if you want the extra length from your lens on a temporary basis but if your looking for a permanant distance lens with a the ability to let a lot of light in then you need to save up for one of the dear lenses or go look at the Sigma range to save a few pounds.
Build quality is fantastic and has the usual weather seals you'd expect from the Canon L glass.
