Manufacturers Description
Technology has never looked so good!

Unique design

The Digital IXUS 75’s chic metallic finish is offset by a distinctive black ring around the lens. The Touch Control Dial provides fingertip control while allowing the camera to maintain a seductively slim profile.

7.1 Megapixels

A 7.1 Megapixel CCD sensor captures every scene with razor-sharp detail, for photo quality prints up to poster size.

Ultra compact 3x optical zoom

An Ultra-High Refractive Index Aspherical (UA) 3x optical zoom lens delivers crystal-clear performance in an exceptionally compact form.

DIGIC III with iSAPS

Canon's DIGIC III processor provides lightning quick responses, superb image quality and advanced noise reduction for sharper, clearer images. iSAPS technology analyses each scene to optimise key camera settings even before a shot is taken.

Face Detection AF/AE/FE

Face Detection AF/AE/FE ensures superb people shots by automatically detecting the subjects in the frame and selecting the optimum focus, exposure and flash settings. My Category tags each image based on face detection and shooting mode for easy navigation, printing, deleting and more.

Red-Eye Correction

During playback Face Detection Technology allows you to quickly and accurately correct red-eye.

Huge 3.0" LCD

Compose and review your shots in rich, vivid detail: the huge PureColor LCD offers superior colour reproduction and sharp resolution (230,000 pixels). An anti-glare, scratch-resistant coating adds extra protection against knocks and scrapes.

Sharp low-light shooting

Shoot clear, bright images in dim conditions with ISO 1600 - ideal for parties and restaurants or where flash photography is not allowed. Use Auto ISO Shift to avoid image blur with the touch of a button whenever camera shake is predicted.

Shooting modes and My Colors

Choose from 17 shooting modes including a range of Special Scene modes, optimised for specific shooting situations. Apply in-camera colour effects to images and movies with My Colors.

Movies

Shoot VGA movies with sound at 30fps. Use the Time Lapse Movie function to capture changing scenes - a flower’s bloom, drifting clouds or a bustling city street - for accelerated playback as smooth video clips.

Shortcut and Playback buttons

Get one-touch access to your favourite controls with the customisable Shortcut button. Use the dedicated Playback button to switch instantly between Shooting mode and Playback mode.

    Canon Ixus 75 - Highly recommended!5
Bought mine around 3 weeks ago. I wanted a high quality point and shoot camera which had a few extra manual adjustments and other facilities on offer and would fit in the pocket. The Canon Ixus 75 fits the bill perfectly. I've used it thus far in auto, manual, macro and the very impressive photo stitch mode where photographs can be taken from either left to right or right to left and then stitched together using the PC software that is provided with the camera. I should add that this software provides a range of other facilities well beyond the stitch function.

It's probably worth mentioning that this little gem also offers limited stop motion video where you can capture, for example, clouds rolling by or people walking by. It does this by taking a picture every 1 or 2 seconds and then putting them together into a video. Very clever.

It's well built and has a superb 3" screen. There is no viewfinder but, as yet, I've not found that I have needed it. Even in bright sunlight the screen is viewable. Battery life is extremely good. The instruction manuals (basic and advanced) are comprehensive though I would have preferred it if the advanced manual had also been provided in paper version (you will find it on the associated CDROM). But that's a small quibble as is the fact that it doesn't come with a case which you will need to buy separately.

This isn't a digital SLR but if you don't need all the fancy extras and comprehensive manual adjustments that a digital SLR camera provides then I strongly suggest that you at least put this one on your shortlist. This little Canon is highly recommended!

    A great compact camera5
I looked at this Canon IXUS 75 and the IXUS 70.

The key differences between the two seemed that the IXUS 70 was fractionally smaller, had an optical viewfinder and 2.5" LCD screen Vs the 3" LCD screen found on the IXUS 75.

Other than that they both had a 3xOptical Zoom (5.8 - 17.4 mm), 7.1 Mega Pixel and Lithium Ion rechargeable Battery.

I opted for the IXUS 75 as I rarely use the optical viewfinder and would rather have a bigger screen to view footage.

The screen is extremely good, visible in strong light and easy to view from all angles with great detail and true to life colour.

The video capture feature runs at 640 x 480 pixel at @ 30 frames per sec. Which is as high as you get with compact cameras and results in smooth clear footage with clear sound

When it comes to still images I have found this camera to give excellent results, clear detailed images with good colure accuracy.

The camera offers good results indoors and out with fast image refresh rates and minimal shutter lag.

The flash is also very capable recharging quickly and coupled with an ISO of up to 1600 fast moving images and low light photography is handled well.

Basic Image management software is supplied with the camera along with all necessary leads to play back images on computer or TV.

My IXUS 75 came with a case, 32MB SD card and leather wrist strap, however I am not sure if all units are packaged this way.

There are no manual exposure options but you can choose multiple scene modes (beach, sport, snow, indoor, etc) as well as full auto, long exposure, exposure compensation, exposure lock, flash on, off, red eye reduction & auto, macro, infinity lock and colour manipulation but ultimately this is an full auto point and shoot compact.

I would describe this camera as a small, portable, easy to use, fully automatic, well made quality offering boasting fine image quality under all conditions with a large easy to view 3" colour LCD screen.

Well I'm very happy with it and it has lived up to my expectations.

    Fantastic Camera5
I've had a number of digital cameras, the last one being a 5mp Ixus 55.
Not a bad camera but found the flash a bit poor and the autofocus had a few 'moments'.
So I looked into the Ixus 75, what a fantastic improvement. The image quality is awesome. I was looking at this and the Samsung NV10, a 10mp camera as opposed to the 7.1mp Canon. The Canon was far better. OK the Samsung could generate larger pictures for blowing up prints but to be honest unless you want bigger than A3 size then the 7.1mp is fine. On a 1GB SD card I can get over 200 maximum size shots which is more than enough. Staples are doing the Sandisk 1GB SD for £9.99!!
The flash is bright and fills in well, the red eye reduction is brilliant (the 55 was poor). Good start up times and quick auto focus, the face recognition feature is very clever!
I can't reccomend this camera enough.
