Customer Reviews
Great book....
This was the first book I bought/read on Home Ed. Very useful, covered all bases including the legalities of it all. Gave a wide selection of experiences from people with a variety of backgrounds and reasons for wanting to home school. You'll find yourself in there somewhere for sure. Very readable and have recommended it to many of my friends.
An enlightening read!
This was the first book I bought when wanting to find out more about Home Education and wondering whether it was right for our children and I'm pleased to say it was a fantastic choice!
I'd read all the info I could find on the WWW, OK so its legal(phew), got that, you don't have to follow the national curriculum, timetables(phew) etc, got all that, they wont become social outcasts, will maintain and make new friendships, gain social skills without the 'help' of a school playground (HO HUMM).... BUT Can I do it?? Will our precious children 'fail' if we try?? Its a big decision!
After reading this I'm reassured,we've chatted with the children, found out why they don't like school ( and as we expected they echo the experiences of children and families who have contributed)
Its doable, others do it, people just like us with children much like ours so....why not us??
An excellent overview of Home Education
I loved this book and couldn't put it down! Although I had already made the decision to home educate my son when he reaches compulsory school age I was overjoyed with this book and just drank in all the information within it. It has given me tips, inspiration, resource ideas and a deeper confidence in my own ability to educate my son. A broad range of experinces and learning styles are covered by the personal family stories. There is also a very helpful legal section and a list of organisations who can provide further information. A must-read for anyone embarking on the Home Educating path!
