Product Description

Fifth album by perpetually teenaged rock 'n' roll queens. While retaining the exuberant youthfulness of their earlier Blondie, Pretenders and Joan Jett influenced releases, on 'Spend The Night' they have deepened their 70s guitar obsessionand turned into a consummate professional hard rock band inthe vein of Kiss, Cheap Trick and AC/DC.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
For 2003, the Donnas invite us to Spend the Night. "It's on the Rocks" opens the evening on an anthemic note. The stoner paean "Pass It Around" appears just past midpoint and "5 O'Clock in the Morning" closes the event. What's in between? Straight-ahead drumbeats, snarling guitars and sassy vocals are the band's calling cards and they're all very much in evidence here. Songs like "Take It Off" and "Please Don't Tease" are built upon bouncing melodies that are revved by choppy pop-punk guitar and simple rhymes ("tease" and "knees," for example). The Donnas' party--"Take Me to the Backseat" included--doesn't rage so much as it embraces a kind of post-punk free love that swaggers like the Ramones circa "Rockaway Beach". Earlier episodes in the development of the Donnas came in 1999 when they reached the age where they could Get Skintight and in 2001 when the racy foursome went on to Turn 21. Now they offer us a whopper of a night. --Andrew Bartlett

Customer Reviews

Really, really, really cool album5
I absolutely loved this album. I first saw it in a shop when I had no money and spent ages tracking it down on the internet, since I could only remember one track and not the title of the CD, but it was worth it because all the songs were so fantastic. My favourites were 'Take It Off', 'Who Invited You' and 'All Messed Up.' If you like the Donnas, you should definitely buy this album.

Fantastic5
I have had this album for ages n it's still on my cd player all the time - but the main reason i wrote this review was because every one missed the Star Track 'Who invited You' Surely the best song on the album. Besides that i can't wait till i can buy the other Donna's albums!!!!!!!!!!

Great Album!5
Compared with the other albums that the Donnas have released this is a lot more mature in sound.

My fave songs on the album are take it off, pass it arouns and on the rocks. They are just really cool songs. I have had this album in my CD player for ages and would usually be bored with the same songs... but, I still am enjoying the album as much as the first time I listened to it.

OK, it isnt a CD for everyone. Buy this CD if you like punk-pop/rock sort of music. If you arent into this sort of music then you are probally wasteing you time.
