The best Magnum live album so far released.
I debated buying this, wondering if it was a small label poor recording or a bad performance from the band. I was wrong on both counts!! The sound quality is A1 and the band, blimey, I've never heard them so on fire. This is from 1985, Magnum were still hungry and had just released On A Storyteller's Night. Tony Clarkin is in awesome form - he's soloing left, right and centre! I've never heard him do so many lead guitar breaks. All of them good might I add. The songs are often extended versions and as previously mentioned, the band are really up for it. I have The Spirit, Stronghold, The Last Dance and Long Days, Black Nights - this is a better live album than all of them.
MAGNUM FORCE
On a storytellers night will always be that 'special' album, and this is basically a live version of that album...with extra's! It has captured Magnum live at their best, full of enthusiasm and drive - they clearly know how special an album storyteller will become. Fantastic rendition of two hearts and even some songs that I've not got live - this album is a must for all Magnum fans.
An Undiscovered Classic!
Having been a Magnum fan for more years than I would care to admit to I can't believe I missed the release of this album last year! I was just browsing Magnum by chance and read Barclaycards review of this album.So I bought it!
I can't really add much to his/her review except to say that if like me you are a Magnum fan and you haven't got The River Sessions in your collection,then buy it!! You will not be dissapointed! And if you are not a Magnum fan then just buy it anyway,beacause once you play this you will be!
