Is no-one going to mention...2
...the fact that a huge chunk of this book is dedicated to people wanting to do make-up as a living ? I was really disappointed to find such a large part of the book was just a career guide for make-up artists - this isn't why I bought the book. And 'tricks of the trade' ? I'd love to know what tips there were - there was not one work-through example of how to make up someone for television/film/fashion photography, just photographs of stuff that had been done, with no explanation of how it had been done. And two pages on celebrities, so that the author could publish 15 photos of herself with her famous clients ?
The make-up advice at the front of the book was pretty good, although there are definite errors, resulting in a disjoint between what is in the picture, and what is being described in the text.
Buy this from Amazon at the cheap price, don't spend £20. I'd return my copy except it looks worn already.

For all who love beauty5
I've just received this and have only skimmed through it, but from what I've read so far, it is absolutely brilliant. A brilliant abc on makeup artistry, equipment needed, skin, face, lips, eyes, ten-step guide to perfect makeup, etc. Beautiful pictures, well written comprehensive makeup and skin care guide, in simple layman terms. Something that I'll treasure forever.

Not at all what I had expected2
I had looked at the previous reviews for this book before purchasing and was looking forward to learning something new from one of the hottest make-up artists in the industry. However, I was to be sorely disappointed when the book arrived and I had a chance to flick through it.

I had been expecting lots of hints and tips, and inspiration to help me acheive new looks or skills with my products. I suppose their were hints and tips, but I found that many of them were ones that were widely available through the bobbi brown website or internet. The make up pages seem very general and overly simplified and details were lacking in the areas that i was particularly interested in.

I think this is probably a good book for someone new to make-up, such as a teenager, and perhaps of interest to anyone looking for some light reading about how to get into the profession. But in my opinion, anyone with half a mind to look things up on the internet or 30 odd years of personal make-up experience, this is a waste of money!
