DVD Description
Jimmy Carr is one of the biggest faces in comedy. Literally--he has one of the biggest faces. Following the huge success of "Jimmy Carr Live" and "Jimmy Carr Stand-up", the multi-award-winning Jimmy Carr returns with his third live stand-up DVD, Jimmy Carr - Comedian. Recorded live at London's Bloomsbury theatre, the posh-suited gagster unleashes his rapid-fire wit upon his audience, with jokes that are just too rude for TV. This DVD is Jimmy’s best yet: the main show is over an hour and a half long, and it also contains almost an hour of exclusive bonus material. Jimmy plays to over 200,000 fans every year around Britain, so grab a copy of Jimmy Carr – Comedian if you’d like to see what all the fuss is about. As Jimmy himself explains: "This isn’t a show for the easily offended, it’s not even a show for people who are quite difficult to offend. Essentially, this is a show for people without a moral compass."
Special Features
1. Thumbing In A Softie--Jimmy Carr stars in an exclusive half hour sketch show recorded specially for the DVD.
2. Second Life--Coverage of Jimmy’s one-off Second Life gig, where he became the first major comedian to do a live gig in the virtual reality world.
3. Soccer Six--Highlights from the Soccer Six charity football tournament where Jimmy captained a team of misfits.
4. Rubber Face Jimmy--Featuring Leigh Francis of Bo’ Selecta.
5. Plus Jimmy’s classic radio interviews with Chris Moyles and Steve Wright.
Synopsis
Recorded live in 2007, the Jimmy Carr - Comedian (Live) DVD sees funnyman Jimmy Carr sharing his cynical, but always hilarious, take on life's little absurdities. But don't let his deadpan delivery fool you--beneath that air of smug superiority lies a razor-sharp wit that he wields like a comedy Samurai, carving out little gems of sarcasm with each swipe.
Customer Reviews
If You Like Jimmy - MUST SEE! ...If You Don't Have a Sense of Humour - DON'T!!
...It really is that simple. Personally I think Jimmy Carr is a genius. I like the variety of his one-liners; a lot of them I have to stop & think, swiftly followed by an episode of laughter and others are your typical irony and sarcasm. What I think makes him PARTICULARLY GOOD COMEDIAN, is the way he interacts with the audience & his ability to reduce a heckler to nothing in a split second, which comes across in the DVDs as well as live. If you have his first two DVDs, heres my particular ranking:
1st - Jimmy Carr Live
2nd - Jimmy Carr Comedian (this one)
3rd - Jimmy Carr Stand-up
...although it is worth noting it's a tough decision, they are all of a great standard of comedy! Hope you laugh as much as I did.
Rude and Offensive - stand up comedy genius!!
I'm a huge fan of Jimmy and was gutted that there wasn't a new DVD out last year... but this one is well worth the wait! If you've only seen him on telly, then you must must must see what he's like doing live stand up. I'm sure most of his jokes would be unbroadcastable that's for sure as he's quite offensive in places, but hilarious all the same!!
A Masterclass
I was already a fan of Jimmy's, and here he is really in his element, away from his TV work (which is witty all the same) where he can be a close to the bone as he chooses.
Love the style of his stand up, unlike long winded observational comedians, he delivers his punch lines in quick succession, meaning if one doesn't hit the mark, the next most likely will.
Thankfully, they pretty much all do in the case of this show. Lots of welcome audience interraction, which always tells you alot about the sharpness of the comic in question, and some really innovative ideas.
The sketch show tacked on is pretty average, it's not his strong point, I would urge him to ditch that idea and concentrate on his stand up, which is as good as I have seen. Really, genuinely funny.
Well done Jim.
