Sue Wilson - The Scotsman
Flook’s uniquely instrumental framework fills the air with dazzlingly intricate, marvellously mercurial formations of blown, plucked & struck sounds

Multi-layered, rhythmically sophisticated and meltingly beautiful."
Customer Reviews
A fantastic display of beautiful musical ability and style!
This album presents Flook at their best yet, with haunting and romantic flutes at times, and galloping pace at others. To those with a particular interest in the Bodhran, John Joe Kelly shows what he's made of in this recording, with a wide range of styles captured on one versatile recording.
Well worth getting hold of but be aware that the CD carries quite a modern feel rather than staying too traditional - but then hey - that's Flook for ya!
Excellent ... we want to hear more, more, more!!!
From a devoted fan, and fellow Bodhranai of course, Bodhraness Catherine.
Traditional Irish music with a modern feel
Flook are an incredibly talented and enthusiastic foursome who are breathing new life into Irish traditional music. Flatfish is an album of traditional tunes as well as a few of their own compositions. The best thing about this album is that the energy and enthusiasm comes across so strongly. If you are learning to play the tin whistle, Irish flute or bodhran this is also an inspirational album (or depressing depending on how far you have got with your lessons!). A truly fantastic album.
A must for all lovers of vibrant music
Flatfish takes a mixture of the traditional and the new and blends it into something wonderful. I have owned the album now for some time and the energy and sensitivity of the band leaps out at you!! There is within the band the best bodhran player you will ever hear coupled with a whistle player who ouzes appeal with every breath, this is supported by incredibly sensitive guitar playing and expert flute and accordian accompniament. The only experience better than the album is to see them live which I have done several times and they are amazing, buy the album see them live you will not regret it!!
