Synopsis
This collection includes all three MUMMY films, following the continuing adventures of Rick (Brendan Fraser), Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) and her brother Jonathan (John Hannah). In THE MUMMY, an evil priest has an affair with the Pharaoh's mistress, who later takes her own life. As punishment the priest is destined to spend eternity mummified but undead. The only way for the curse to be lifted is if his body is released. In THE MUMMY RETURNS, the mummified corpse of Imhotep is taken to the British Museum in London. Whilst there he awakens to continue his quest for immortality. But another dark force has been unleashed on the world and when these two evil spirits meet the fate of the world is at risk. In TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR, Rick and Evelyn have retired to England, and their now-grown son is following in their footsteps. But it's the resurrection of China's ten-thousand-strong terra cotta army that brings the adventuring couple back into the action.

A bargain
This is a bargain set, containing all three of the Mummy DVDs in a really attractive tin. If you haven't already bought any of the Mummy dvds, then this is definitely the cheapest way of doing it, and once you have watched one, you are going to want to buy the rest anyway.
I have found that cardboard box set can take a bit of a bashing, especially if they are popular with any children in the house - our Lord of the Rings trilogy box sets, for example, have taken a hammering. I know that tins can be damaged by children too, but they are much more likely to stay in good order and this one looks great. It's convenient, too, to have all three dvds in one place.
If you have only watched the third Mummy film, do be aware that the earlier ones are scarier and less child-friendly, so if you have a youngish or sensitive child, do watch the first two yourself first to decide whether you think they are suitable.
The mummy trilogy
We bought the Mummy box set as we watch them all frequently. The Mummy is about about an archeologist lady, Evie, and her brother Jonathan who team up with Rick (Brendan Frazer) and unlease a mummy who is set on bringing back his egyptian love who he died for. They team up and bring about the mummy's downfall, with lots of fight sequences, the scorpion king played by the rock, loads of laughs and lots of hearstopping moments. I have 3, 4 and 8 year old boys who love it.
The Mummy 2 concentrates on the same characters when their son is taken by the people who resurect the mummy for the 2nd time. There are flashbacks to the 1st film which is nice, and of course, the usual fights, laughter and come-uppence which is so satisfying!
The Mummy 3 is about the same characters, although Evie is no longer played by Rachel Weisz, which is a shame, and their grown up son. There is an oriental theme to this one and the mummy itself is different, but it is still really good, with some great special effects.
Harmless fun
Bought this as a Christmas present for my daughter. Always liked the first two films, but hadn't seen the third, which turned out to be a bit of a disappointment, definitely suffering for the loss of Rachel Weisz. However, still good to have on the shelf, as it's a fun and untaxing watch.
