Customer Reviews
A great review of a great season
"Football, bloody hell" was how Sir Alex Ferguson summed up his emotions after the 1999 Champions League Final, and the same sentiments fit the 2001/2002 season just as well, even though the silverware was not so forthcoming..
United may have been denied a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title, and may have lost to Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-final of the Champions League, but to call the season a failure does not do justice to the performances throughout the campaign. From the incredible 5-3 comeback at White Hart Lane to the quarter final victories over Deportivo, the season had considerable highs. That the trophy cabinet remained bare is only because of uncharacteristic errors that cost needless points.
The DVD is the 3rd year that a season review has been prepared on DVD, and the production is accordingly quite polished. The season can be viewed in chronological order just like a video, or it can be jumped into at any point via menu options for each league fixture, cup or European match. Extra features include exclusive interviews with the PFA Player of the Year 2001/2002 Ruud van Nistelrooy, Juan Sebastian Veron, Gary Neville, Laurent Blanc, Roy Keane, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs and Sir Alex Ferguson. There is also footage of the press conference for the signing of Diego Forlan, as well as a behind the scenes look at training with the first team, a stadium tour of Old Trafford and a look at a match day with the ITV broadcast team. Pre-season matches are also present, including the Far East Tour, as well as matches closer to home, but the Charity Shield is conspicuously absent. There are also player profiles of David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Roy Keane, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
A worthy addition to and United fan's collection.
Van The Man
Alas no silverware this season, but 2001/02 saw some great football by United and the introduction of Ruud Van Nistelrooy who scored over 30 goals.
The 5-3 win over Spurs is worth buying the DVD alone. A true Classic.
