Tourist's manual to Beijing
I had to write a review for this book. We could not have survived our 2 weeks in Beijing without it.

Small and light enough to carry everywhere, we would not only have been lost, but would have only got a fraction of what we did do done without this book.

Its like the bible to Beijing for visitors. Lost? Maps, subway. Don't know what to do next? Where to eat? What to eat? Where the bars are? What the scams are? Something local to where you currently are? All the answers to every possible question we had was in this little book. Top 10 of everything, everywhere in Beijing. And yet, the beauty is it doesn't dictate to you what to do. Its just a guide, a companion.

If you want to get the most out of any city you are in, i cannot recommend top 10s highly enough. I have taken one to every where i have been so far this year. Heres to 2010 with DK Top 10 in hand.

Excellent - up-to-date and perfect size for city visiting!
Fantastic guide! We took the Rough Guide (China) and the Lonely Planet Encounters series for Beijing and Shanghai on our recent trip. Would not bother with the Lonely Planet Encounters series - terrible maps, scant information and appear to be more like mini-magazine articles than user-friendly travel guides. The DK Top 10 Beijing was perfectly formed - not too big and bulky. The handy map was perfect if you really wanted to travel light - listing sights and things on one side and a map on the other. Map was produced on sturdy laminated paper which was still easy to fold - it more than survived our abuse round the sights! Very up-to-date (publised July 2009!) and had just enough info on everything. This was the one we would have with us on our daily trips around town and the Rough Guide provided more historical detail/backdrop in the evenings when we were planning where to go. Had never been convinced by the Top 10 series before but will be investigating further for future trips!
