My in-laws were over the moon to receive this as part of their xmas gift along with a weekend break for edinburgh. They have been using the book to research the best places to go and see as they don't have access to the internet to do the research that way. It is well written & very useful, would recommend

Lightweight guide
A perfect guide book for a short break - useful pull out map of the city, small and light to carry around, and some real bar/ cafe/ restaurant gems included in here.

Edinburgh Lonely Planet
It has good information but the arrangement over districts makes it more difficult to use. Edinburgh is too small to split over districts.
