Manufacturer's Description
Neutral Density filters reduce the amount of light passing through the camera lens without changing the color of the scene. They are especially useful in bright light conditions to help prevent overexposure. They also allow proper exposure at a wider lens opening for reduced depth-of-field to highlight a key subject by making the foreground and/or background out of focus.

Its a Tiffen
Simple as, you can't really go wrong with a Tiffen ND Filter. They are what hollywood chooses for their cameras after all.
My only gripe is that this was slightly thicker by a few mm than my other filters. Not really an issue on a zoom lens, but on my ultrawide, this results in very slight mechanical vignetting occurring. Easily fixed with a spot healing tool though.
Great in Bright Sunlight
I bought this filter so that I could use a slower shutter speed in order to get some special effects in bright light conditions. eg photgraphing waterfalls to give them a surreal look. It certainly does the job for that kind of thing.
I don't understand the technical claim that this filter eliminates overly bright washed out images. I thought this problem was simply down to over exposure which can be controlled by a combination of ISO, aperture and shutter speed. Mind you, I don't claim to be an expert, being am amateur photographer and all that.
In any event - I recommend it. haven't come across any problems with using it.
