Only a few months after the introduction of the revolutionary E-400 to the world of digital SLR photography, Olympus would like to present its successor, the E-410, which comes equipped with a new sensor, a TruePic III image processor and a Live View function. The E-400?s CCD sensor has moved aside to make way for the E-410?s new 10-megapixel Live MOS sensor, which makes sure you get fantastic results each and every time, while its Live View function enables users to aim on the 2.5? HyperCrystal LCD screen before taking their photo, just as they would with a compact digital camera. The E-410 has also kept the size of its predecessor, which is significantly smaller than other digital SLR cameras, for easier handling, and comes with automatic and manual options, which include 32 scene modes, a burst mode of three photos per second, an AE lock, as well as field depth and improved image processing controls, so you can really let your creativity run wild! It?s also compatible with Compact Flash, xD and Microdrive memory cards and employs the renowned anti-dust filter from Olympus, a tried and tested technology that efficiently prevents dust from settling on the sensor and ruining the quality of the image. This anti-dust protection is made up of a supersonic wave filter, which is activated every time the camera is switched on. The E-410 is supplied with a standard compact ED 14-42 mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens, which is ideal for all kinds of photographs (from common wide-angle photos to traditional telephoto portraits), and is compatible with a host of different accessories and lenses. More high performance than its predecessor, the E-410 is the perfect choice for those of you looking to purchase a practical yet compact digital reflex camera.

Camera Labs - Highly Recommended Award May 2007 "Like its predecessor, the Olympus E-410 has a lot going for it; it's very small and light without compromising comfort or usability, there's quick and easy access to all the settings, the resolving power and noise levels are comparable to the best 10 Megapixels DSLRs, and the SSWF anti-dust system remains unmatched."
Manufacturer's Description
The Olympus E-410 digital SLR with Live Preview; With the E-410 Olympus presents the successor to the E-400. This new D-SLR is compact and light-weight, yet provides photographers with the additional comfort of a Live View viewing, so thereâs no need to keep your eye glued to the viewfinder to frame shots. Instead you can use the large 2.5â/6.4cm HyperCrystal LCD. Also new is the image processing engine, which boasts superb noise performance and speeds up overall processing times. Moreover, the new 10-Megapixel image sensor means even better-quality, more detailed shots. Since the camera â" like all Olympus E-System D-SLRs â" is based on the Four Thirds Standard, it is compatible with a host of accessories. Furthermore, it is equipped with the patented Supersonic Wave Filter, the original proven technology for protecting the image sensor from dust, introduced with the first Olympus D-SLR in 2003.
Familiar compactness, brand-new technology;Itâs astonishing what a wealth of high-tech features have been squeezed into this compact and light-weight camera body. First off, thereâs Live View, allowing you to employ the LCD screen to frame shots. Two further technological developments have also been incorporated: The new 10-Megapixel image sensor ensures crisp images with finest detail, while the all-new image processing engine delivers excellent noise performance.
Get professional results with ease; The Olympus E-410 caters for the demands of pro photographers, as well as amateurs: Professionals will enjoy the diverse manual settings, while the 32 preset shooting modes â" including Children, Macro and two underwater modes â" make setting the correct exposure a breeze even for beginners. Images can be stored on xD-Picture Cards or CompactFlash, so users upgrading from Olympus compact cameras can continue using their xD-Picture Cards.
Wide choice of accessories; For extended shooting sessions, the Olympus E-410 comes equipped with a long-life rechargeable battery. As the camera is based on the Four Thirds Standard, nearly the entire range of E-System accessories is available, among them bright and compact lenses designed especially for digital imaging. These feature near-telecentric construction for images that are sharp and well-exposed right up to the edges; The ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 (35mm equivalent focal length: 28-84mm) provides full 3x zoom performance. It is a small, light zoom lens with a range of use from medium wide angle to classical telephoto portrait.

lens's
For anyone with Zuiko lens's to fit the OM range of 35mm film cameras, there is the option to use those lens on the E-410.
The two available E-410 lens's cover a basic wide to tele range, but sometimes they do not meet the more expanded needs of longer range.
Currently, with the adaptor rings, I can utilise my Zuiko 75 to 150mm, a 350mm tele, plus I can use my 55mm f1.2 Zuiko, which is vastly superior to virtually any lens available for any make of camera.
A adaptor ring is available, either from your UK stockist or from Internet vendors. Costs range from an eye watering £90, UK ... to as little as about £8 from the Internet.
There is a drawback, but for general 'snapshot' use it does not matter too much, and that is, the adaptor ring does NOT allow certain features of the camera to be used.
Olympus E-410 Digital SLR Camera SE Kit (ED 17.5-45mm)
Fantastic little camera.
I bought this to get back into photography after some 20 years absence and as an digital SLR it performs brilliantly. Its light and manageable and has an excellent battery life.
Performance on this 10MP camera is second to none. The SE kit comes with a 17.5-45mm lens that allows for a varied wide angle view, this has given me a greater field that I ever had with my old pentax 35mm.
The use of the menu system is relatively easy to manage and is quick to change.
Ive posted some of my pics as examples of some diverse shots, may put a few more up later.
Recommendations, get a 40-150mm Olympus ED lens, its all you will need to complete your package.
Well worth the £279.00 I paid for it!!
excellent first D slr camera
i first bought this camera as i wanted more freedom than a normal camera on my photography A level course. I feel the camera is very easy to use, portable and gets good results. The main reason i bought it was because it was cheaper than its rival Nikon models and the Canon Eos 400d. Upon receiving my camera i found it was definately alot easier to use than the eos 400d especially when setting aperture and shutter speeds, which is good for the amateur, relatively inexperienced photographer such as myself. I feel that this camera was excellent value as i found it for only £280 (pcworld) compared to the £80-£100 i would have had to pay more for the canon. I would definately reccomend it to anyone looking for their first digital slr as it is easy to use and get used too and gets good results.
Those looking to use the panorama setting will need to buy and xD card though, as the setting does not work with compact flash (cf)
