Product Description

You will fight how you train. This is the theme of "Fighter's Fact Book 2" and when you have mastered the skills taught in the book, you will truly be ready to defend yourself in some of the most desperate situations imaginable. Nearly a dozen veteran instructors of street oriented martial arts have come together with Loren Christensen to teach you how to defend yourself against multiple attackers, violent dogs, knives, close quarter attacks, and attackers impervious to pain. Then they show you how to make your street techniques fast and explosive, and how to prepare yourself mentally to use extreme force. The skills taught here are not for the faint hearted. These are hardcore techniques intended to save your life or the life of a loved one. In addition to Loren Christensen's no-nonsense instruction on justified use of extreme tactics, fighting wounded, attacking the eyes and neck, surviving a dog attack and using the mini-flashlight to ward off an attacker, you'll get expert insight from: Lt. Col. Dave Grossman (Army Special Forces, psychologist - on conditioning the mind); Iain Abernethy (England's leading exponent of applied karate - on street sparring); and, Rory A. Miller (corrections officer, tactical team trainer - on in-fighting). You'll also get expert insight from: Kris Wilder (multiple black belt holder & international competitor - on punching power); Lawrence Kane (martial artist and football stadium security supervisor - on shock blocks); Alain Burrese (hapkido expert, and former bouncer and bodyguard - on kicking skill); Wim Demeere (Belgian full-contact fighter and personal trainer - on street sanshou); Richard Dimitri (veteran fighter and popular trainer - on using The Shredder); Mark Mireles (LA cop, twice Medal of Valor recipient - on chokes and clinching); Tim Delgman (9th-degree jujitsu black belt - on throws for the street); and, Dan Anderson (karate champion and arnis master - on fighting with single stick).

An outstanding resource for serious martial artists!5
Loren does a wonderful job here, this book tells you all that you need to know to defend yourself in an easy to follow manner. It even goes into detail on how to survive and fend off a dog attack; I wish I'd read this book a couple of years ago when my wife & I were attacked by a Rottweiler!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone in martial arts.

This book covers a broad range of topics from the justified use of force to defend yourself, to various methods of training to improve your self-defence skills. There are also several sections devoted to various techniques such as; punching, kicking, elbowing, clawing, etc., as well as, grappling and weapons

I'd also recommend this book to anyone who seriously wants to improve their own personal ability to fight and fight to the best of their abilities when confronted with the need to do so. Although ideally fighting should be a last resort, realistically it often is the first and only option you have other than becoming a victim. As the old saying goes, "Train for the worst and hope for the best."

all martial arts books should be like this5
A book by one of the few martial arts masters who:

Live in the real world,
Have actually been in a few fights and life/death situations
Actually know what the self defence laws are in most countries

It is a shame that not all martial arts books and teachers give you solid facts. If you are training in self defence or a martial art of some sort PLEASE READ THIS. Most teachers have never actually used their techniques in a life or death situation, and are not aware of their reliability, or what is actually legal.

The books of this remarkably sensible man cover important subjects such as:

The importance of running away,

Legal issues like "did you have an avenue of escape?", (basically how not to end up in jail).

And of course he has worked for the military, the police (he trains the police) and gives top notch advice on (safe) mental and physical training in all his books.

He also explains the dangers of self harming training methods, in detail, and what can go wrong, so you can weigh up the risks for yourself (although some of the methods he uses himself are a little extreme).

His personal style is a modernised, street based karate, but dispite the fact that i never really aprooved of karate,(too slow) i found his books immensely helpful in my own mixed mui thai and wing chun based system. He does not advocate a style or teach one in his books, he merely imparts reason and experience to a subject that sorely needs it. His teachings are relevant to all who wish to embark on the dangerous path that is martial arts.

This book is probably a life saver. I have read all his books, and recommend all of them.
