it is COMPLETE5
RECOMMENDED. As it says,3 volumes in 1. Firstly BREATHING.There'sdetailed information on what yoga is,relaxation, yogic hygiene, diet, sexual health and of course the detailed theory and practice of breath control(pranayama). This first volume alone takes up 160 pages. Next volume is POSTURES which explains and describes with clear line drawings over 400 postures. You can put different types of postures into your own routine(a basic and more advanced routine is outlined). The third volume is MEDITATION.It starts with the Hindu and mystical background of yoga. Chapters on Patanjali's Raja Yoga, concentration exercises including sitting for meditation, and a chapter each on mantra yoga, trancendental meditation(TM) of Mahesh Yogi, yantra yoga, kundalini(serpent power) yoga, yoga of action(karma),yoga of devotion(bhakti),yoga of action(jnana),psychic powers(siddhis),yoga of sex(tantrism). And much more.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED,all aspects of yoga for beginner AND advanced practicioner.

Contains all you need to know5
This book contains a concise guide of over 400 Yoga moves ranging from the easiest to some of the hardest so you can gradually progress to the harder moves. It also contains sections on the Yoga of Karma (give what you expect to receive) and detailed explanation of different breathing exercises and also meditation. Overall an excellent guide to Yoga which contains all that you need to know and then a vast majority of info that you need to know once you have mastered the moves enclosed -a must have for any one interested in Yoga.

more of a manual than a book2
This book wasn't really what I was expecting. I expected a book which would tell me everything I needed to know about Yoga in a clear and well presented manner. It is a fairly small plumpish book, and once you look inside, the contents seem to resemble a 'yoga dictionary' more than an exercise programme.I think it may be aimed more for teachers to use as a reference book, in which case it would probably be great, but it certainly isn't meant for beginners to use as a readable introduction to yoga.

Postures are not exactly easy to find throughout the book, and the illustrations are, in my opinion, rather poor. Small black and white drawings amidst a load of text. Its not very user friendly and I didn't really enjoy reading it. It was disappointing, compared to the other good books there ARE out there on yoga. To call this book the Complete Yoga Book is a little optimistic I think.
