Customer Reviews
Another dimension to anything on CD so far.
Recorded in Australia (obviously) before the Mad Season album but includes a couple of right good covers, more so Time After Time. Also includes Tired from the Tabithas Secret days which comes from their most consistent album yet - argueably! That said, until the very recent arrival of 'More than you think you are'. All the live favourites are here, 3am shines, Long Day eclipses it as the dark horse of their first MB20 offering. Audience participation is of the Beatle-mania variety and can be a bit tedious. Having seen them in the UK headlining a tiny venue and buying a BonJovi ticket to see them opening in a stadium, they are a pretty special live entity. This scratches the surface. This is live and elctric whereas the VH1 Storytellers is the same musical talent stripped down and a great insight to the genius - and it's not just Rob Thomas. Kyle Cook is an unsung hero. Believe it or not! This video also contains all the promos from 'Yourself or Someone Like You' and the live footage is scattered with some documentary stuff. More than you thought it would be. Buy it.
If you are an MB20 fan - you'll like this
This is a must for MB20 fans all over - full footage of the Sydney Yourself or Someone Like You concert, less some of the banter between Rob and the crowd. There is also a bit of behind the scenes footage at airports, hotel rooms etc. This is between tracks in the concert and can get a little annoying but it doesn't affect viewing too much. Also has some "proper" videos at the end as a bonus. It's not available on DVD which is a bit poor, but then you can't have everything can you?
Bottom line is, if you like MB20, get this video as you wont be disappointed.
an excellent introduction
Although Matchbox Twenty have recorded many more amazing tracks since this Australian concert was recorded, this video remains an essential addition to any MB20 fan's collection. With fantastic live performances of the best tracks from Yourself or Someone Like You and some truly remarkable covers, the musical talents of the band have never been better showcased. Whilst fans may miss songs from the band's later albums, 'Live From Australia' is nonetheless a great way to grow better acquainted with one of today's most influential bands
