Excellent book! A must have for Higher English.
This book is a must have if you want to be confident in your own ability to pass the higher. It explains every aspect of the course well ( apart from commenting on every text..) and shows you how to attack every type of question in a quick and concise manner. I bought this a month before my exam and after studying the texts hard and spending time practicing close reading skills found it a great way to summarise the whole course. It is really effective in getting you to try the questions and adapt your answers so that they are better. Don't know if everyone's thoughts on this are the same as mine but I feel it did help me to get an A pass!

Boring, boring, boring!
This is a turgid, tortuous and laborious read and I can't imagine a school pupil ploughing their way through this. It does cover the aspects of the exam but it is teaching to a formula and everyone knows that English just isn't like that. I do not recommned this book as I am sure it would put the student off. English is a fun subject and this book makes it an ordeal!
