Good for Scottish Higher Mathematics4
I am a student studying Scottish Higher Mathematics and this is the main textbook used in my school. The exercises are extensive covering all areas of the course. From basic theory to the most complex questions. The writers have clearly marked the questions which have been in previous Higher exams so as to alert to the standard expected in the final exam. Although some of the older versions of the textbook do contain several errors in the answer section, the newer versions (such as this one) have obviously been revised as the number of errors has decreased. I would encourage anyone studying Higer Mathematics to use this textbook. It is a good basis all areas of the course.

This book is rubbish.1
I use this book in school, and it is riddled with errors. I would advise everybody to use another textbook.

Good for SQA Higher Maths4
Firstly, it is not for A-Level whatsoever (altough some elements may be similar) and for SQA HIgher Mathematics, it is probably the best textbook there is. Along with a competant teacher, you can get an A in Maths relatively easily. It has many examples, including lots from past Higher Papers pre-2001, and is certainly the main text book for the course that I would recommend.

However, it was written in a hurry, so it is riddled with errors in the answer pages which can put students off; a tutor must work out answers before their students so as to ensure correctness. Furthermore, some of the answers expeted are absolutely ludicrist. A random "mad answer" is:

1/1296(pi^3+18pi^2+648root3-1296)

A situation that will never arise in an SQA exam.

But nonetheless, it is still a good textbook with a particularly handy revsion chapter (Essential Skills). It is a shame about the errors, but they can be almost forgotten in this case (hence removing only a single star).
