Product Description
Whether it's a thermonuclear bomb or a super-atomic core, nail-biting last minute deactivations feature in practically every action movie. Why? Well it's because they're excruciatingly, buttock-clenchingly, watch-thru-ya-fingersly exciting. The thought that civilization depends on the uncrossing of a few wires and the removal of a central thingamabob is enough to bring the calmest of super agents out in a cold sweat. But how do you get to experience such unparalleled levels of tension without joining MI6, building a holodeck or getting a job as a night manager at a crumbling ex-Soviet Bloc power station? Simple, you buy Total Meltdown. This fiendishly tense tabletop game has had us utterly enthralled since it arrived here at Gadgetshop Central, and we guarantee your palms will be sweating the second you clap eyes on it. Looking like something out of Dr Who's Starfleet Chocolate Factory, Total Meltdown features 4 intense challenges that must be completed before the whole thing goes boom! Flashing lights, a ticking clock and taunting voice crank up the tension to ludicrous levels as you attempt to decipher the correct port for a bundle of wires, complete a twelve piece circuit breaker, crack the code and then remove the central core without touching the sides. Only you can stop a complete meltdown! You'll feel like James Bond, Jack Bauer, and Mr Scott all rolled into one, and the temptation to yell "She cannae take it Cap'n" will become truly unbearable as the moment of truth looms. Of course, saving the world wouldn't be half as much fun without a little taunting/screaming/desperate encouragement from onlookers, so the clever makers have made sure that up to 4 players can join in the action. Disarmingly brilliant. Boom boom!

Total Meltdown really is one of the most innovative little distractions we've seen in ages and the fact that such a ridiculously exciting game requires nerves of steel, quick thinking, not to mention a fair bit of intelligence marks it out as a classic in the making. Disarmingly brilliant. Boom boom!

I was looking for a gift for our nine year old son when I stumbled upon this toy. After reading the only review that existed & consulting the wife we thought it may be just the thing. Our son cant get enough of it. Very simple idea that is made more fun by sound effects that increase the urgency of the ticking clock. Not too expensive & well made.
A real boy's toy
This is an excellent toy that my (8 year old) son really loved. He has played it pretty much non-stop since it arrived and the rest of the family enjoy it too. "It really makes your brain think, once you start playing you cannot stop" is how he described it when I said I was writing this review. My only concern is the twelve pieces needed for challenge 2, if any of these were to go missing, you would not be able to complete the game - luckily he is quite an organised boy so I don't think it will be a problem, but it is worth counting them into the box at the end of each session. This game encourages thinking skills and is very competitive - both against other people and your own personal best time. I strongly recommend it for boys aged around 8 (and their dads and grandpas!).
Meltdown Review
I enjoyed this game alot. I am not an adult. So you can see that some adult whos never played it before isn't saying it's fun, when it's not. I have played this game before and enjoyed it throughly. It kept me hooked for hours. Not only was it fun then, but like other games become boring after playing it so many times this does not become boring at all. I am sure that anyone would enjoy playing this game. It is a definite Christmas gift idea for friends or family. Ir is an enjoyable game. If you have a few friends over it's sooooooooooo much fun to play!!! Oh and by the way, kids don't think it's some boring educational game that adults think is fun. It's awsome!!!
