Editorial Reviews

CD Description
The very first Sing-A-Long-A- Max album was recorded in 1972 after a suggestion from producer Cyril Stapleton and the collection of medleys, usually featuring well known standards being given an update (as well as a distinctive Max Bygraves feel) has proved extremely popular over the years. The two Sing-A-Long-A War Years releases were Max s last appearance on the album charts, hitting #5 and #33 respectively and earning gold disc awards (sales in excess of 100,000 units apiece). These Hallmark re-issues of these albums see the cover art significantly modified from the original issues.

Customer Reviews

Max At His Best5
This is an great example of one of the best British singers of all time, Max Bygraves. Max brings 30 classic wartime songs to life in this outstanding album. Recommended to anyone!

What it says on the tin4
Max Bygraves was (and still is) the consumate professional performer. He engages with his audience and gives them what they want. In his long-running 'Sing-a-long' series he takes an era or period, selects the best or most idiomatic songs and ensures they blend together seamlessly. To some this may seem bland but you have to realise that Max is giving his target audience what they want - nostalgia, in bucket loads. If you want cutting edge 'rethinks' into how this material is performed then look elsewhere. If you want to wallow in well-structured 'easy listening' versions of songs you heard your parents or grandparents sing and all in beautifully modern full spectrum recordings then Max is your man. Enjoy.

Max at His Best , But..4
As with most of the SingalongaMax albums they are mostly medleys. Only tracks 5,10,15,20 25 and 30 are full length songs. However, this does not detract from the value of the album which is 46 minutes long and has Max at his best.
