Customer Reviews

Toughdrive 160GB - fab5
As others said in their reviews for similar Freecom items, it's great, easy to use - plug and play. The in-buit USB connector is neat (lights up when working) Dead quiet too - exactly as described. I chose the 160GB as the spec is a bit faster than the next one down and a teeny bit lighter, and I felt worth the extra few quid. There's also software to back-up ALL your files included. I'm very pleased with this bonus, as it's easy to use too. Worth every penny

Shock resistant = yay5
After looking at numerous external hard drives, I finally settled on the toughdrive, mainly because reviews of other leading brand products, such as the Western Digital Passport, had extremely mixed reviews, with a lot of people complaining about them spontaneously failing. The only negative reviews for this product were about it not working on Mac, but I'm a PC user so I'm not too fussed.

For £70, you get 160gb, more than enough for it's required task (backing up my music collection). It's so easy to use, you just plug it in, the PC auto-detects it, and you're ready to go. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the USB cable is kinda small, but the hard drive does come with a USB extension which makes up for it. Another great aspect is it's size - it's pretty small and light, so it's handy if you need to take your work files with you (or music!). It's also silent, even when transferring lots of data at once. It looks pretty swish too.

The best thing about the toughdrive though is it's shock resistance, which is brilliant for people as clumsy as me: I've already knocked it off the PC desk (about a metre) once, and it's still working perfectly.

It comes with a 2 year warranty, butbut you've got to make sure you take the 5 minutes to register on the freecom website (well worth the time).

All in all, the Tough Drive is one of the best external hard drives I've used, and well worth the £70!

Work With Vista 4
I saw previous reviews; some said it wouldn't work with the vista. I took a risk and bought it as the manufacturer said it supported vista. Guess what!! it does work with the vista. I am using Vista 32 bit home premium.
