shame the legs fall off
my 7 year old is a huge fan of lego and lego star wars in particular, we have as a family spent hours building many of the sets, including this one, after birthday and christmas present opening. The beauty of lego is the different stages of the entertainment value - the anticipation building up to the purchase, the box opening and laying out all the pieces, building the characters ( apparently these have to be made first ) , building the machine, then playing with the machine. The shame with this particular model is that the legs/wings fall off far too easily in even quite gentle play.

Lego kick off their 2009 releases with a series of kits from The Clone Wars which includes this great Hyena Droid Bomber.
Essentially a larger version of the Vulture droid, the Droid Bomber has the same versatility as it's smaller counterpart but with more firepower.
The fighter features positionable wings for flight mode, assault mode (wings split open) and the whole wing assemblies move downwards to convert to walking mode.
The head on the right hand side elevates up for walking mode. There are two missile racks under the right hull. Each one deploys two missiles in much the same fashion as the missiles on last year's 7878 Droid Gunship. When you pull the level backwards the two missiles simply fall downwards.
The fighter has a wingspan of 24 cm, is 20.5 cm long and 5.5 cm high. When the droid converts to walking mode it stands an impressive 20.5 cm high.
Included for the first time are three scavenger Battle Droids, as seen in 'Rising Malevolence' and each one comes equipped with a black blaster rifle and a thruster pack. Featuring a dark brown a grey colour scheme, these Droids are a welcome addition to Separatist forces.
The kit comprises 179 pieces (not including figures, weapons, missiles and packs) takes about 15 minutes to build, there are 13 decals to apply and it's ready for action.
A must have for taking on those V-19s!

Hyena Droid Bomber
I purchased this for my Nephews 11 Birthday and wondered if it would be a little young for him, but he loves it. The pieces are small so make it more tricky to put together which is great for the older child. Plenty of hours of fun to be had.
