does what it says on the tin
I have nearly finished this book and so far it seems clear and well thought out, with no indications of being rushed to print like its predecessor. I am glad that I bought it and recommend it.

If you are a total .net novice, this is not suitable as a first book.

The style chosen makes it fairly useful even if you are not taking the exam.

Experience is needed to succeed.
Don't try the exam without this book and a fair bit of experience. It's hard, very hard. But with 4-5 years of experience it should be more than doable. If you want to compensate for experience; do all the assignments in the book, they should really help you on the exam.

Essential Exam Reading
I used this book and the Microsoft eLearning course when preparing for the exam. I found the book much easier to use. It is clear and comprehensive and covers almost all of the subjects covered in the exam. The one subject that it did not cover (ClickOnce installation) was not even mentioned in the official curriculum. Passing the exam requires good experience and good preparation, one or the other won't do. This book gives good help with the latter and includes 200 test questions on CD in addition to those in the book. Some reviewers have noted that there are errors in this book. The first edition was riddled with errors, but the few that are in this version (which I believe has been very substantially rewritten) did not cause me any concern.
