A brilliant book by my friend Neil Mullarkey

Product Description

L. Vaughan Spencer studied the Philosophy of Table Tennis and Anti-Social French at the University of the Isle of Wight and gained his MBA at the Jimmy Connors Institute in San Diego over the course of a weekend. Aside from holding motivational workshops in Watford, he also writes books; previous works include Chicken Nuggets for the Soul, Who Grated My Cheese? and What they don’t teach you at Harvard Nursery School. All of his work is based on rigorous analysis – apart from when it’s easier not to. In a hilarious – and surprisingly useful – satire of the corporate self-improvement industry the satirical character L. Vaughan Spencer finally puts his wisdom into book form. This ultra-observant how-not-to guide, on everything from clothes and hairstyles to spellology and 720 degree feedback, is a based on a successful stage show that won the Edinburgh Fringe Report Award for Best Satire of 2002 and has toured to theatres and corporate conferences across the world.

Editorial Reviews

Review
'I'm a Succeeder in a long line of Succeeders. Caesar, Abraham Lincoln, Tim Henman and Phil Collins - all undoubtedly used my methods.' - L-Vo, Self-Help Guru and Gangsta Motivator. 'This is, quite possibly, the only business book you should ever bother reading.' Stefan Stern, Financial Times. 'The perfect antidote to the endless bogus management consultants and coaches who ply the corporate circuit.' Sunday Telegraph. 'L. Vaughan Spencer is to life coaching what Alan Partridge is to broadcasting. Neil Mullarkey is a very funny man indeed.' - Metro. "This book is hilarious! Smart and silly. Really funny." - Mike Myers. 'Superb pastiche of self-help gurus. It's Borat meets The Office'. - Sunday Times. 'This book changed my life. I thought I was but an humble pub landlord, but now I realise I am an Hospitality Management Executive' - Al Murray the Hospitality Management Executive. 'Without him, I'd be nothing' - Richard Branson. 'This book made me laugh lots. Now I understand so much more about commerce and skincare.' - Nick Hancock. 'Neil Mullarkey is very, very, very, very funny.' - Eddie Izzard. 'Very funny and surprisingly useful. It helped me learn about business.' Tony Hawks. 'Every line of this book is a slogan for Life - you need never have an original thought again. This is a life coach - with legroom, reclining seats and frequent toilet breaks. LVo has the makings of a complete cult.' And, as Shakespeare would have written: Where LV succeeds there succeed I.' - Robert Bathurst. 'Will make you cry with laughter. Or possibly pain.' - People Management. 'Brilliant work. Very funny indeed - reminded me why I like L-Vo so much. Delicious relief from these grim times.' - Luke Johnson (Chairman of Channel 4 and Borders). 'Just the sort of man we need in these credit crunch days...the ultimate must-have Christmas present for your lacklustre friends.' - Arthur Smith. 'It's a mix of my old two 11 O'Clock Show faves, Ali G and Ricky Gervais, and unusually for a dictionary-style book, is one you can read in one sitting ... This book comes with the promise that buying two copies will make you even more successful than buying just one, but you might like to make it three just to be on the safe side.' - The Bookbag. 'Quite possibly, the only business book you should ever bother reading' Stefan Stern, FT.

About the Author
Neil Mullarkey co-founded Britain’s top improvisation troupe, The Comedy Store Players, has acted in several films, including two Austin Powers movies, and is a regular on television and radio comedy shows – where he will plug the book shamelessly.

Customer Reviews

If business and government had listened to this man we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now!5
This book answers the questions that businesses and governments have been too afraid to ask. No wonder we find ourselves in the financial crisis we are in today. We have been spending too much time focussing on low priority issues such as profit margins, product development, social responsibility, people managment and leadership and not enough on the real issues such as animal analysis, good skincare regimes and the benefits of relocating your office closer to London Luton Airport.

The author of this book is a genius. Not only does he explain why we are all failures; he also tells us what we should do to become successful.

It is the first business book I have read that comes with a guarantee that buying two copies will make you even more successful than just one. I'm buying three.

Say YES to being Succeedy!5
This is a very funny book and a hilarious take on the world of personal development, life-coaching and navel gazing. A fabulous and outrageous parody!

At the same time, it has a serious message on how to really succeed and get on in life. The key is to take it all lightly and not to get hung up with all the "gurus" out there!

By showing us how not to do it, we get some great insights in how to actually succeed in life on your own.

Neil Mullarkey's comical outlook on life belies a genius at making light work of all those self-appointed messiahs who make us feel so needy.

Get this book, read it, study it, laugh a lot and then get ready to be succeedy!

In the words of a famous song - "Life will never be the same again!"

The Best Business Book ever!5
Until I read this book, I had no idea what success really was. The advice in here is invaluable. I'm buying copies for all my friends. I can't think of a better-value present for these dark times than a dose of L-Vo.
