Avoid at all costs..tedium personified..
A very uninspiring adaptation of a classic book, pales in comparison to the 1946 version, in spite of the latter version's faults. Low budget, lousy sets, unconvincing performances. It's a case of 'pick your poison'. The relative cheapness of the DVD (£6.99) only mirrors the cheapness of the production. whatever you pay for this, it will be too much...

Ok, but noway near the best
After watchin this film, i found it a very interesting film. But i do not feel it has the same qualities as the more modern films. I am a great fan of Dicken's novels and didn't feel that it went into detail for some of the main parts of the story. i still give this film a strong 3 star rating.

A thoroughly enjoyable production
A thoroughly enjoyable production of Great Expectations full of stars such as Michael York, Sarah Miles, James Mason, Margaret Leighton. Sarah Miles is great fun as Estella and Margaret Leighton suits the part of Miss Havisham superbly. Perhaps not the most accurate adaptation of the novel, but one nevertheless which is heartwarming and very enjoyable - thoroughly recommended.
