Amazon review for the previous edition A great little pocket-book!, 7 September, 2000 Collins have come out with a brilliant little phrase book for getting by in France and French-speaking regions. It makes it easy to pull out of your handbag or jacket, and quickly find out what it is you're about to embark on, gastronomically, socially, or physically. Sections include sight-seeing, shopping, food, drink, phoning, emailing, hotel, travelling, and a whole lot more. Plus there's a section at the front for key phrases, and both a French-English and English-French dictionary at the back. All this in under 200 pages ... grab it and go French!

Great French Phrase Book
We used this little phrase book this year, whilst on a 2-week holiday in France and found it to be invaluable. Apart from a fairly comprehensive selection of phrases (with pronunciation), organised for appropriate use, it incorporated a reasonable dictionary and useful information about driving in France with pictures of signs to help you. We found this aspect of it particularly useful, having never driven in France before.

Apart from the occasional omission in the dictionary of a word which I would have thought we would have found, it was a very handy companion to take along and stayed in my handbag throughout. I recommend it.
