Customer Reviews
Excellent for kids and adults
I bought this for my son, who is just starting to learn German, but also for me, whose knowledge of German is a bit rusty. It is excellent, because it covers all the common verbs in language, plus some not so common, including irregular verbs (the bane of any language student). More importantly it also includes a selection of phrases incorporating each verb, which helps put grammatical elements in context. Definately 5 stars for this one.
Great For Serious Learners
I bought this book a few months ago to help me with my German A level. It has more than paid for itself with the usage I get out of it!
First of all, the slightly not so good points... I have to admit though, it wasn't exactly what I expected. The grammar section at the front is really helpful, but it isn't comprehensive (a specific grammar book will be better for that). It's better for translating from German to English, since the verbs are only in German and there's no English to cross reference with.
However, the good points outweigh these so much, they're not worth worrying about. There is also a very helpful set of phrases at the bottom of each verb page, which show you how it is used in the German language. This not only shows you how it should be used, but also gives you a couple of phrases that you can nick for yourself if needs be! The verbs are really well set out and all the forms are represented - It's helpful when you're unsure of a conjugation since it's already there for you! At the back is a really long list of almost every German verb, and their English meanings.
I would recommend this for anyone who's studying or learning German past AS level.
An essential!
I bought this book as an aid to the A'level course I am currently taking and it is an absolute essential. The comprehensive list of verbs are in an easy to understand format. The exercises at the back of the book are useful in providing a working understanding of the verbs -(in what context to use them.)The information inside this book is the key to understanding A'level German grammar, a definate 'must have'.
