    tiny & mighty5
i just received this memory stick today and as its name does suggest - it's tiny - but not only - it's also very, very fast. of all my other memory sticks (some free gifts, some purchased) it is the fastest. i copied 4GB of solid data in around 5 minutes. amazing - well invested money. okay, that's for the positive part.

    the negatives:

    1. its cap does NOT fit on the back of the memory stick. it will most probably get lost one day. i do not understand why industrial designers in 2008 STILL are not able to demonstrate that tiny bit of common sense: i want my cap to fit on the other end of my memory stick while in use! what is so complicated about that?

    2. the entire back end of the stick glows orange when in use. a soft rhythmic glow when on standby and a hectic blinking when in use. the light is very strong and annoying.

all in all: small, fast, huge capacity, soft rubber on solid body, silly cap - go for it.

Lots of bang for your buck!5
This was bought to replace a nearly full 4Gb Samsung device. (My first attempt to replace it was a no-name 8Gb stick, and the performance of the latter was so sluggish that it's already only being used for non-speed-critical storage. Don't make the same mistake!)

The SanDisk Cruzer range (this is my third, although the others are both 1Gb devices) are at the top end of the performance scale for budget devices, and certainly outperform many more expensive devices.

The device is skinnable. It comes with a clear silicon "skin" but Sandisk also sell a pack (available separately, obviously!) containing a (really good!) lanyard and two skins (one red, one blue) which help identify which is which when you have a choice! There's also a label area under the skin you can write on.

The comments relating to the losability of the cap are true, but I can't see another way to achieve the twin aims of a robust connector for a lanyard (most are very breakable) AND the extremely tiny size of the device. (Some manufacturers provide a lanyard attachment loop on the cap. Sorry, but the prospect of discovering the lanyard round my neck has just a cap on it rather puts me off this strategy!) Sandisk also make thumbdrives with a retractable connector, effectively rendering a cap unnecessary, but they're necessarily bigger. You pays yer money, you takes yer choice...

Anyway... I use this for portable applications. TrueCrypt flies. So does DOSBox. Even OpenOfficePortable is extremely usable. And GreatNews -- the most disk-intensive portable app I use -- performs like it's locally installed. It's the fastest I've ever used -- equalled only by the other, smaller, SanDisk devices -- and for the money, you really can't go wrong.

(Note that this is not the U3 version, and, pretty though U3 is, it's more trouble than it's worth: PortableApps.com's solutions are free, better supported and much easier to tweak.)

If you're still worried about losing the cap, the accessory pack (lanyard, skins, matching caps) might cost you nearly a quid if you have a look round the net... (try 7dayshop, for instance.)

    Excellent USB stick5
    Pros:

Tiny, feels solid (metal and a rubbery "skin" for protection)

Had a 2GB version before, both live up to expectations...fast and durable.

As stated by previous reviewer, the cap doesn't fit onto the backend and if you are forgetful it may get lost.

Formatted capacity according to windows is 7.47GB, which is to be expected with any drive as some amount of space is lost during the formatting process, but be aware of this fact when buying. You do not get to use the full 8GB of space.
