Customer Reviews

the beginning of a legend5
This 24 song package of the first two jackson 5 albums features a wide spread of material, as well as original material by a group of songwriters known as 'the corporation', there are standards, songs from Walt Disney, and covers of Motown classics. Their first three consecutive no.1 US hits 'I want you back', 'Abc' and 'The love you save' are included. Other standout tracks include, the ever so amazing 'Who's loving you', (is that really an 11 year old kid belting out this song), and a cover of the Delfonics 1968 classic 'La la mean I love you' . This two on one package is a must for any Michael Jackson & Motown fan. a real bargain. Alos check out the other two on 1 if still available 'Third album/Maybe tomorrow'

Introducing... well, you know them. :o)5
The debut album of the now legendary 70's kid-group The Jackson 5, + their 2nd album ABC when they really went big!

Diana Ross presents is a nice, if restrained introduction to Michael, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon, with the little prodigies really takin' care of business on covers of Motown standards like 'Standing in the Shadows of Love' and 'My Cherie Amour' by the 4 tops and stevie wonder.

The leads are shared by 12 year old Michael Jackson, the undisputed little star of the group with his incomparable, genius voice, and older brother Jermaine with his sweet, classicly smooth voice. Jermaine really stands out on 'My Cherie Amour, wheras Michael gets to beat the heck out of the classic 'I Want You Back' with it's brilliant bass-line. It was the groups first number 01, and the fastest selling single Motown had seen to that day.
Brothers Marlon, Jackie and Tito harmonise on backing vocals.

The second album was where they really took off though, with 2 number 01 singles in the form of classic school-yard stomper 'ABC' and the shamelessly joyful 'The Love You Save' where Michael really kicks it up in high gear.

Other highlights include the little known album track '2-4-6-8' where Michael sings in the same spirits as 'I Want You Back' and 'ABC' and a cover of Smokey Robinson and the Miricles classic 'Come Round Here I'm the One You Need'.

Sound quality is flawless, and the sleevenotes give info on album sales and singles.

If you like this cd, another reccomendation is the follow up albums, 'Third Album/Maybe Tommorrow' and 'Dancing Machine/Moving Violation.'
