Intimate Michael4
This is a recording of Michael singing some of his own personal favourite songs in the intimate setting of the Cafe de Paris. As usual, Michael is in great voice, and his rendition of one of my all time favourite songs, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face is absolutely wonderful. There are songs we haven't heard Michael sing before, new songs, written for, and by him, and old favourites too. Even the musicals section has new songs. Michael's interpretation of No Matter What from Whistle Down The Wind is better than I have ever heard! My only criticism isn't about Michael at all, but about the actual filming. If I buy a dvd of Michael Ball, then it is him I want to see, and not some unnamed, female string player, who the camera man showed for more time than he did Michael, which does mar the enjoyment somewhat! But apart from that, the musical content makes it a very worthwhile buy! The additional insight into Michael's promotional trip to USA is fun to watch, and the musical accompaniment to the shots is great.

It grows on you !5
Just like the album of the same name and bearing many of the songs from that collection of new country music, this concert performance grows on you. As usual, it showcases Mr. Ball's lively and engaging concert stage presence, although this time the songs are rendered in the more intimate atmosphere of the Cafe de Paris in London. The focus is on his new album of new songs like "You Bring the Best Out of Me", a new Ball composition called "Never Coming Back" together with cover versions of " The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", "If Tommorrow Never Comes", "Greatest Man I Never Knew" and even "No Matter What". It is Michael's singing versatility ( and wonderful vocal range) which allows him to sing ballads and pop songs, musical theatre hits, as well as rock and roll oldies and provides his audience with a very entertaining evening. The DVD gives you a close-up view of this small stage concert - and is infectious enough that you feel like clapping together with his audience in a cabaret atmosphere, as he sings one wonderful song after another!

A fairly good concert3
This is a very enjoyable concert set in an intimate setting. The choice of music is from his latest album mixed with old favourites from musicals etc. Well worth watching if you haven't had a chance to see Michael perform live but doesn't really do him justice. The extras are a documentary about his trip to New York which is fairly informative. There are also lots of exclusive photographs. Overall a good package.
