Synopsis
Depicts the real story of the Band of Brothers, the 101st Airborne division who fought in World War II. This extended programme goes on the journey from the start of the division's fighting in WW II, to the D Day landings, the Battle of the Bulge, and the final day of the war. Also includes exclusive home movie footage donated by the men of the 101st. The story of the 101st provided the basis for the BBC mini-series BAND OF BROTHERS, which was the most expensive television series ever produced when it was first screened.

Interesting narrative with standard archival footage
If one isn't familiar with the history of WWII you might find this a good and intersting DVD that adds to the "Band of Brothers" box set, especially the interviews with the veterans. If however one is familiar with WWII history & archival footage of American Airborn forces, one will recognise the archival footage used to support the interviews is the usual stock standard footage often and repeatedly used throught the electronic and pring media. The narrative is similarly at best, little more than standard fare.

a wonderful little DVD
I bought this dvd two days ago for my dad and he loves it. It contains two episodes and some wonderful heartfelt interviews and great footage, highly recommended 5 star

Pretty goof stuff
Actually I really enjoyed this.

I love the Band of Brothers series, and this really reenforced that for me.

I particularly liked the "home video footage" and the interviews with the real veterans of the 101st. Really good stuff. I do recommend it.

Yes I have seen some of the archive footage several times before. But I never tire of watching that kind of history in action. It brings it all home every time.
