Editorial Reviews

Sue Arnold, THE GUARDIAN
'McKellen's rich, authoritative Gandalf tones evoke ancient lore, myth and magic good and bad - plus, of course, wolf-speak.'

Review
'The achievement of the year has to be Ian McKellen's narration of the three instalments of Michelle Paver's CHRONICLES OF ANCIENT DARKNESS, WOLF BROTHER, SPIRIT WALKER and SOUL EATER. Having been given rewardingly rich material in Paver's inspired evocation of a Stone Age culture of nature gods and hunting wisdoms, he is equally good as Gandalfian tribal gurus, the intrepid Torak of the Wolf Clan, the stoic archer heroine Renn of the Ravens and the intelligent wolfcub Wolf.' (Christina Hardyment THE TIMES )

Be transported back in time with the Ancient Darkness Series5
Following on from "Wolf Brother" and "Spirit Walker", this is Book 3 in the series.

Torak and Renn's challenges in Stone Age Scandinavia continue, and Torak now starts to embrace the path destiny intended for him. He knows he must try to defeat the Soul Eaters... only he knows how...

Torak is forced into action when his faithful companion and pack-brother Wolf is captured. He has to find him... but when the trail leads right up into the Far North frozen lands, he and Renn begin to wonder if they can even survive....

Fast-paced, vivid descriptions, and the story seems brilliantly authentic. A gripping read for older children and adults alike. If you haven't read books 1 and 2, read them first. I can't wait to read book 4!

soul eater5
soul eater and the other two chronicles of ancient darkness are the best books i've ever read. Michelle pavers way of describing things relly brings the story to live and for a moment you really believe that you are there with Torak, Wolf and Renn back in the times of hunter gatherers.

Reading the books make you want to be there with Torak and to be able to track and hunt just like him.Wolf is just always there for torak and renn is very brave to face soul eaters.Brilliant read highly recommended!

Good but not as good as the two before it.4
It starts of as Torak and Renn are hunting deer in the forest when Wolf goes running off to chase after some strange prey. After he does not come back they are told by three passing members of an allied tribe that they saw a struggling bundle on a sledge with captors heading North. They set off north into the land of snow and ice and there uncover many secrets...

...a good book. Would recommend.
