Rubbish
Do not waste your money buying this book.
It is poorly written, badly researched and the errors are both numerous and basic. Ranging from descriptions of vehicles that are hopelessly inaccurate and technical details that are plainly and simply wrong to captions to photographs which bear no relationship to the vehicle depicted.
When the author is about to put forward a dodgy or inacurate piece of information it is usually preceded by the phrase "almost certainly." By the time I got to the end of the book I realised that this normally meant that the author didn't have a clue what he was talking about.
The whole book is littered with mistakes and they detract from the enjoyment of any element of it.
It is unforgivable really, there is so much readily available information about Military Land Rovers it would have been very simple to do some research and get it right
Actually a nice book!
The other reviewers, have I feel, been a little harsh!
Pat Ware's book has in fact much to recommend it - the photographic coverage is in fact alone worth the price, with the book featuring many unusual or unpubished pictures, in an extensive selection of period pictures (some of which are quite thought provoking!).
I found the book easily readable and it makes for a nice "browse". I enjoyed the content as well, and found nothing really amiss - but I then I cannot profess to be a Land Rover "expert". If I was I would have probably written a book like this!
For anyone who is interested in the subject, I would therefore say go out and get it. You will not regret it, and will be a useful quick reference to have in your Land Rover library - for both dipping into and using to show others what you are talking about!
Good book but too many errors
I enjoyed this book as I have with all of Pat Wares offerings. It covers comprehensively the military Land Rover from 1948 to date with many wonderful period photographs. So why only three stars? Well there are errors in the text at times and far too many errors in the picture captions which is a shame. It feels like a good book rushed in the editing.
