Customer Reviews

Let me show you how I learned to fly...5
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R2F6EIYNF56UT0 This is my video describing some of the reasons why I love FSFlyingSchool and would not fly without it any more. It really did help me learn how to fly in FS2004 and FSX (Flight Simulator X). I think every flight simulator pilot should have it!
FSFlyingSchool Flight Sim for Microsoft Flight Simulator X FSX and FS2004

Fly realistically with FSX5
This add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator provides a variety of extra features such as a selection of in-cockpit instructors (with voice feedback), detailed flight assessment, and scoring for flights / circuits / landings (my personal favourites).

FSFlyingSchool has pointed out lots of areas that I'm a bit rusty in when flying with FSX. Before using FSFlyingSchool I was completely unaware of these mistakes and FSX would just let me get away with them!

It's well worth the money, especially as they provide free upgrades to new versions. I originally purchased v1.6, and have upgraded to v1.7 and v1.8 for free.

And.... suddenly...... 2009 Happened5
[My original review of the original version of FSFlyingSchool]

As a gamer/computer user of some 30 plus years, I'm well used to the claims of software manufacturers. I'm also well used to the fact that the actuality of the product often falls well short of those claims. Because of this experience (and the natural cynicism that repeated disappointment engenders) it is an added bonus when a piece of software not only lives up to its owner's claims but actually exceeds them.

FSFlyingSchool does just that. From the painless installation (which in itself could have been fraught with problems) right through to running your favourite flights, this whole package oozes quality and, as important, care. Instructions are clear, concise and easy to understand and (and I can't stress this enough) everything works as it's supposed to.

A great package and one that will undoubtedly enhance your 'flying' experience.

[Added for the 2009 Version]

I always experience a feeling on ambivalence towards any update of any product I use - and the more I use that product, the greater the ambivalence; on the one hand there's the excitement at the prospect of new features but, on the other hand, there's the worry that the producers have tried to fix something that wasn't broken and, in the process, have destroyed what you liked about the package.

It was with great relief that I discovered that nothing has been 'broken' in the shiny, new FsFlyingSchool; it was with joy that I discovered that the update was well worth waiting for.

There's an incredible degree of balance to this program. There's enormous depth but there's never a feeling of pedantry (or nerdiness). Instructions and advice are clearly and simply given and all is pitched just about perfectly. The default instructor reminds me uncannily of my first (and only) driving instructor (this guy had me passing my driving test after six one-hour lessons); the voice is calm and relaxing but, at the same time, authoritative and reassuring.

I have always tended to 'play' at flight sims - I don't have enough time to REALLY study (and, anyway, I do this to relax) but I can already see this program taking me up a ladder of achievement. There are a vast number of goals to aim for - even if it's just a word of praise from the instructor. It makes the whole experience more..... I'm not sure if this is the correct word but, to me, it fits .......and that word is 'worthy'. It gives a sense, not just of DOING SOMETHING, but actually achieving something in the process. You do something, you see what your something was, how you achieved that something (in incredible detail) and how you could have done that something better. And it's ALL enjoyable.

I've said before (and don't mind repeating) MicroSoft ought to be paying these guys. A superb program. I see that one reviewer almost offered his instructor a cup of coffee - I'm waiting for mine to offer me one - in the next version perhaps?
