Customer Reviews

The title of this book should be renamed...1
...to `The Complete Idiot's Guide to Networking' as it is written in a condescending tone, as if Ivens believes that the reader would in fact consider turning up to a job interview in a leopard print cocktail dress.

I picked up my copy of the book in the business section of a book shop at London City Airport, however only part of the book focuses on business networking - a large part of the content is padded out with irrelevant advice on how to be the perfect house guest and also how to meet a potential partner. Again, this advice seemed to be a case of Ivens stating the obvious in a rather condescending tone.

The advice on getting an upgrade with an airline (again, advice that I did not want in a book on business networking) was sketchy and so obviously based on hearsay.

Ivens seems to assume that the reader of the book is a naiive 20-something single girl who aspires to work in the media, as very few of her tips translate into other industries. Her advice on having a reliable male friend on standby in order to put a stop to lesbian rumours is quite frankly offensive - surely any modern woman, lesbian or not, would take such ridiculousness in her stride.

A witty guide to surviving & schmoozing5
A fresh, funny guide to networking, schmoozing and general socializing. A great read, with useful tips and the usual funny anecdotes that I have come to expect from Ivens' books. I am looking forward to her next guide.

Another fantastic read by Ms Ivens5
Once again this is another fantastic book by Ms Ivens. This book is a must read for anyone.

I personally loved it & can't wait for Ms Ivens next book.
