Amazon.co.uk Review
Season four of the hit ABC medical drama was on shaky ground from the season premiere, which left Cristina (Sandra Oh) at the altar by Burke (Isaiah Washington, fired after the press-frenzied third season); Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) downgraded to no-relationship-just-sex status; and George (T.R. Knight) pondering divorce from Callie (Sara Ramirez) to pursue love with his best friend, Izzie (Katherine Heigl). That last pairing made for one of the worst decisions in the series thus far; George and Izzie always worked so well as friends without the will-they-won't-they element, but suddenly throwing them into bed and watching them fumble their way to coupledom (an attempt that mercifully doesn't last) was painful to watch, in particular because Heigl, who had won an Emmy for the previous season, was reduced to a lot of whining and fretting. Meanwhile, Meredith's family issues come to a head when her half-sister Lexie (Chyler Leigh) begins her internship at Seattle Grace and instantly tries too hard to bond. And as she once again drives away Derek with her trust issues, Meredith finally gets smart and enters therapy (one of the redeeming elements of the season, with Amy Madigan as the hard-nosed counselor) to "get healed." The writers' strike became a welcome blessing for the show, which had seriously derailed before its hiatus; during the strike, creator Shonda Rimes has said she reexamined the direction of the show, making for an ultimately satisfying second half of the season. Standout episodes include "Forever Young," in which a high school bus crash leaves the staff pontificating their own adolescent cliques; "Lay Your Hands on Me," with a standout performance by Chandra Wilson as Bailey, whose crumbling marriage comes front and center when her toddler gets in an accident; and the season finale "Freedom," in which Meredith and Derek save two brain-tumor patients in love (Jurnee Smollett and Marshall Allman), leading to their own (lasting?) reunion, Bailey heads up an effort to rescue a guy who lay in concrete to impress a girl; and Callie finds herself attracted to the new cardiac surgeon, Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith). --Ellen A. Synopsis
Back for a fourth season, and with a spin-off under their belts (Private Practice) the doctors of Seattle Grace keep going from strength to strength. The interns of the first three seasons are now residents and have their own interns to deal with--a responsibility that some deal with better than others. Expect the usual drama as emotions run high in the professional and personal lives of Meredith, "McDreamy" et al.
Synopsis
GREY'S ANATOMY is a quick-witted, warmhearted medical drama that explores the personal and professional relationships of the doctors at a Seattle hospital. After winning the 2007 Golden Globe for Best Drama, the hit series returned for a fourth series that saw the long-suffering interns--Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina (Sandra Oh), Izzie (Katherine Heigl), and Alex (Justin Chambers)--begin their first grueling year as residents. As they navigate new life-and-death situations, they must also mentor new underlings, including Meredith's half sister, Lexie (Chyler Leigh), and ex-colleague George (T.R. Knight), who remains an intern after failing his exams. Upper management has also seen a few shake-ups, as the hot-tempered Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) lost the Chief Resident spot to Dr. Torres (Sara Ramirez), and now must struggle to accept her lower place on the food chain. Meanwhile, Dr. Derek 'McDreamy' Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) tries to work despite the emotional wounds caused by the ends of his relationships with both Meredith and his ex-wife. Includes every episode from the fourth series.

The ONE to beat!
After the slightly disappointing season 3 grey's anatomy season 4 had to be the season that was best by all standards, and i have to say it even out performed the unmissable season 2.
During the season we watched the now residents relationships flourish and diminish. The biggest mistake ever was Izzie and George getting together although the break up of George's marriage opened the floodgates for a relationship with a difference for Callie. Throughout the season viewers were waiting in anticipation for the MERDER realtionship to make a move forward... although this looked very doubtful after Derek starts "dating"
Cristina gets a shock from her past, and is challenged in her chosen career path in Cardio-thoracics upon the arrival of Dr. Erica Hahn. This season shows the abrput, comedy and competitive nature that cristina is well known and loved for, although we also see her more vulnerable side, when the shock appears and especially towards the season finale when it's obvious that Cristina doesn't want to loose her "person" and best friend Meredith-( this continues into season 5)
There are a few guest appearences this season, as well as new characters who join the regular cast, one in particular Lexie Grey - Meredith's half sister.
Season 4 contains all the usual medical drama, comedy and romance we have become accustommed to, In my opinion is the best season to date, definately one that should not be missed!
Enjoy
Great Anatomy!
This series is actually brilliant. I won't give anything away, but the fact that it really does set up the next series so fantastically has left me gagging for more! Thankfully, I only have to wait until the 22nd of January.
I can't wait for it be released so I can rewatch them again and again! Absolutely brilliant. I watched a trailer for the 5th series and I think we're all going to have some shocks in store, and that the Meredith-McDreamy relationship is never going to be easy! Anyway, buy it! Compulsory viewing.
Grey's Back!!!!!
Well after the confusion of Season 3, it appears the writers strike did wonders for the writers when they realized that they had forgotten the most important bit about their TV show, the viewers. And the viewers had got bored with will they won't they, and the love triangle between George, Callie and Izzie, and other areas.
Shonda sat down and watched all the episodes back to back to gain a better perspective, Shonda realized she had to take it back to basics. You will notice in the last 5 episodes (after writers strike) there is a effort to wrap up old storylines and start heading into new beginnings. And all I can say to that is about time!!
The writing is brilliant and even the actors appear to be enjoying fresh new material with a new direction. I'm glad I've stuck with it and can't wait until Season 5 , may the reign continue.
