Virtua Tennis 2009 wii
Virtua Tennis 2009 (Wii)
I love this game!! I find a lot of games for the wii have bad graphics but these ones are good. The gameplay is fantastic and you can play online against people all over the world. In world tour mode you can shop play tournaments , play mini games and work out with (what sega say is legandary) Tim Henman. If you dont want to buy the wii motion + then dont because the game is almost as good without it but the tiny wee add on makes the game feel more reallistic.
I hope this review helped you
Virtua tennis wii 2009 hmm maybe it's just me!!!!
Maybe next years VT will be completed, this one just feels like its been rushed out. Don't normally write reviews but couldn't agree with any of reviews so far. I'll just give a short evaluation having played both games for couple of days
VT graphics - players look more realistic than GST but that makes them look worse, confused!!! let me explain. In GST they have realized you can't recreate a player to look realistic on wii so have stuck to cartoonish look a'likes which work well. VT they just look like odd copies just making them look really rubbish.it's cringeworthy!!
Gameplay- GST wins my a million miles. It feels like the real thing (using wii motion and nun chuck), the backhand slice is perfect, topspin very good and flat shots ok (haven't mastered them yet), GST is hard in a good way. You need to play your way into points and then nail a winner, you'll lose most games to start with even on Easy setting. You need to use variety and get the shots right of you'll lose point. VT isn't realistic, its arcade tennis, no need to have backswing it's more like wii tennis than a progression to something more challenging.
Music - Both pretty poor, i just turn music off on both. GST commentary is good. Pat Cash doesn't say too much, i would have liked to have had a few different commentary options, Macs and Borris would be have been great but maybe thats for next year. The sound affects in GST are good, the crowd get into rallies as they do in VT but it's the important details VT is missing which make such a big difference. There isn't such a large amount of venue's in GST as VT but touches like when your playing in French open the umpire gives score in French, you slide on clay, and you have all surfaces needed, what GST lakes in number's it makes up fore in quality. The grunting in VT is annoying, yes the women grunt (some may like i just found it strange, not realistic!!)
The Menu - GST wins again a very polished game, really good, VT just feels half finished, like it's been rushed out
So to summerise i wanted to like VT more, im not a huge EA sports fan and enjoyed VT on the PSP but if your looking for a realistic tennis game than get GST, if you want a ok looking game with poor gameplay go for VT. In my view how the 3 tennis games i've now played on wii rate is
number 3 VT 4/10
Number 2 Wii sports 5/10
Number 1 Grand slam (it's nor perfect but it's the best tennis experience to date) 7/10
Great tennis = sore arm
This game is great! I have played it a few times by myself and with friends. After a while your arm gets sore which i suppose isnt a bad thing. The graphics arent that bad for the wii either. Everything about this game is ace apart from one small thing. Everything you start a round of tennis you have to point your mote at your player. It would of been far better just to press the A button to continue. Nevermind, you get used to it after a while.
