Customer Reviews
I was really looking forward to this book, but...
it was a real disappointment when it arrived - printed on cheap and tacky paper with not very impressive illustrations. Even though the advice in the book is actually quite worthwhile, I found its appearance most off-putting. Not something I'd like to keep on the shelf and refer to again.
A Beautiful Life on a Budget!
I have to say, I disagree with the reviewer who thinks one needs pots of money to "Live A Beautiful Life".
I live on benefits myself at the moment, and LOVE this book. By no means are all the suggestions only for the wealthy. Alexandra mentions picking three daisies and putting them in perhaps an old glass or cup. You could get the same effect with a dandelion quite frankly! And they're often found in cracks in walls etc. Beauty for free. This book is truly inspirational, encouraging us to look around us and appreciate what we have ALREADY got.
I think nothing of making an improvised vase out of a mug that has its handle broken off. Old bone china or a lovely single cup and saucer can often be bought at a charity shop for rock-bottom prices. The ceremony of tea making is special for me because I make it so by laying a tray and having a tea-pot (second hand). That is more for me what this book is about - not "buying lots of stuff".
Who cares about the expensive face cream that the previous reviewer mentions? But I could make a lovely face pack with an over-ripe banana and some honey! It's taking the time to do it in the first place that's part of the ritual for me - a concept that Alexandra is very keen that we introduce - little daily rituals that calm and reassure us.
Being creative of mind costs nothing...
And I bought a bunch of sweet peas reduced to clear at my supermarket on Sunday afternoon for 19p. Which I felt very chuffed with!
Anything is possible... Please, consider this charming book - you might just discover something lovely, and get inspired to create a special space just for you, despite perhaps, a tight budget - that's when you really get to develop your imagination!
Enjoy this bundle of lovliness!

I loved this book. An inspiring guide to making the most mundane moments in your life beautiful. If you find life getting boring and the little things are getting you down then read this book.
