For the more experienced
An excellent book which rates as 5 star but only for those who have had adequate prior study of Zen literature. Dogen in his inimitable style writes and talks about reality and Zen with so much depth and elegance, thats its hard to appreciate with a lay mind. Reading it over and over begins to unfold the meaning layer by layer. A certain degree of inner calm is essential to understand any of Dogen' work, else it only reads like a Koan at times and excellent poetry at others. Once you start getting it, the beauty of Dogen's words is sheer ecstasy.
Enlightenment spills forth from treeless branch skies.
The Way is Not Words; the types of Words Dogen uses, tumbles, forsaking the these and those for the this and thising with every turning phrase and flashing Creamy Lotus Sky Smile.
